You know what really struck me about this place? The name basically tells you everything you need to know – and honestly, they’re not kidding about being a block from Waikiki Beach. I mean, you can literally hear the waves from some of the rooms, and it’s maybe a two-minute walk before your toes are in that ridiculously soft sand.

The free parking thing is actually a huge deal if you’ve ever tried to park around Waikiki (spoiler alert: it’s expensive and kind of a nightmare). Most places charge like $40 a night just to park your rental car, so right there you’re saving serious money. The pool area is pretty solid too – nothing fancy, but it’s clean and way less crowded than the beach scene when you want to chill without dodging surfers and tour groups. I actually found myself using it more in the late afternoon when the sun starts getting that golden Waikiki glow but the beach crowds are still thick.

What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to actually know the area. The front desk guy – I think his name was Marcus – gave me this whole rundown about which food trucks to hit up on Kalakaua Avenue and when the best times were to catch sunrise at Diamond Head without fighting for parking spots. That’s the kind of local insight you don’t get at the big chain hotels where everyone’s reading from a script. The rooms themselves are pretty standard 4-star stuff, but they’re clean and the AC works great (which, let’s be real, is crucial in Hawaii). Some of the bathrooms are a bit dated – we’re talking early 2000s tile work – but everything functions perfectly fine. The beds are actually really comfortable, and I’m someone who usually has trouble sleeping in hotels.

The location really is the star here though. You’re close enough to all the Waikiki action that you can walk to Duke’s or grab shaved ice from those little stands, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the chaos of Kalakaua Avenue right outside your window. I could walk to the International Market Place in about five minutes when I wanted to browse around, and getting to the good snorkeling spots near the Royal Hawaiian was super easy. Plus – and this might sound weird – but the elevators are fast, which matters more than you’d think when you’re going up and down all day with beach gear and shopping bags.

Is it the fanciest place on the island? Definitely not. But for the price point and that 8.5 rating, it delivers exactly what most people actually want from a Waikiki stay: easy beach access, decent amenities, and you’re not hemorrhaging money on parking and location fees. I’d honestly stay here again, especially if I was doing one of those trips where I’m barely in the room anyway because I’m out exploring the island all day.

  We loved the decorations and the beds were very nice. Keurig coffee and the gift of insulated bags was wonderful. We enjoyed the bath and bidet. Nice area for breakfast. Laundry was convenient. It was near the beach and many restaurants. Nice mini mart. We appreciated all the comforts of home including a stiffer and first aid kit.

  The property was great, very close to the beach and Waikiki strip. Everything is within distance. Daisy has been very communicative and very helpful. Laundry is right next to the room so we didn’t have to walk very far. Our daughter was able to use the pool and the little playground on the 6th level.
