Aloha Junction Guest House – 5 min from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park Overview
First Impressions
You know what hits you first when you pull up to Aloha Junction Guest House – 5 min from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park? It’s this immediate sense that you’ve found something special tucked away in Volcano village. The three-star property sits perfectly positioned on Olapalapa Road, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better — you’re literally five minutes from one of Hawaii’s most incredible natural wonders. There’s something refreshing about a place that doesn’t try to be flashy but instead focuses on what really matters: comfort and that unbeatable proximity to the national park.
Location & Neighborhood
I mean, let’s talk about this location because it’s genuinely exceptional. Couples consistently rate it 9.5 out of 10, and after staying here, I totally get why. You’re in the heart of Volcano village, which means you can actually walk to local spots for dinner, but more importantly, you’re positioned perfectly for early morning adventures into Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The area has this cool, misty mountain vibe that’s completely different from the typical beach resort experience — it’s refreshing, actually. Plus, there’s free private parking right on site, which is honestly a relief when you’re planning multiple trips in and out of the park.
The Room Experience
Here’s where Aloha Junction Guest House really shines — the beds are incredibly comfortable, and I’m not just saying that. This place gets consistently high ratings for sleep quality, and after a long day of hiking around volcanic craters, you’ll understand why that matters so much. The rooms have this cozy, mountain lodge feel that works perfectly with the cooler Volcano climate. It’s not trying to be upscale in a flashy way, but everything feels thoughtfully chosen and genuinely comfortable.
Breakfast & Dining
The breakfast setup here is actually pretty impressive for a three-star property. They’ve got options for everyone — vegetarian, gluten-free, Asian, and American choices, all served buffet-style. What I really appreciated was how they cater to different dietary needs without making it feel like an afterthought. You can fuel up properly before heading out for a day of exploring, and honestly, having a good breakfast included just makes the whole volcano adventure feel more manageable. The variety means you won’t get bored even if you’re staying several nights.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t the kind of place where you’ll spend all day lounging by a pool — and that’s exactly the point. Aloha Junction Guest House works because it understands what brings people to Volcano: the incredible natural beauty and unique landscape of the area. The property has earned an excellent 9.4 location score, and when you’re planning early morning volcano hikes or late evening stargazing sessions, being this close to the national park is invaluable. It’s the kind of place that gets the basics absolutely right — comfortable beds, good breakfast, perfect location — so you can focus on the real reason you came to this part of the Big Island.
Visitors often choose Hawaii apartments over traditional hotels because they provide more space, kitchen facilities, and the opportunity to live like a local in this magnificent Pacific paradise.

The grounds were beautiful with so much attention given to enhancing the surroundings and making it feel like a special garden oasis. The attention to detail in the room increased the already warm and inviting nature of the guest house. The bed was super comfortable. Everything was very clean and comfortable. Our hosts were very attentive before we arrived to make sure everything was smooth and even helped us when we had questions about planning our activities during our stay. While we were there we almost felt like we were in our own home with the level of privacy provided.

Felt like home. Farmhouse before it was a thing. Shared kitchen and living room were beautiful. Complimentary food was a nice touch, as was the fresh fruit you could pick from the trees. Robert was a great host!

It is no longer a bed and breakfast, but the owners still left some small food items for us like yogurt, bagels, etc. The room was great and very clean! The location is extremely great as it is close to Volcanoes National Park.
