What really gets me about this place is how they’ve managed to feel authentically Hawaiian without going overboard with the tiki torch thing. The rooms have this clean, modern vibe with pops of local art, and honestly, the shower pressure is incredible – something you don’t always get at beachfront properties. I spent most mornings on my lanai with coffee, watching the Molokini Crater in the distance while early risers were already out paddleboarding. The pools are gorgeous (there are multiple levels cascading down toward the beach), though they can get pretty crowded during peak season – I’d hit them before 9 AM or after 4 PM if you want any peace.

Here’s the thing about Wailea that guidebooks don’t always mention: it’s upscale, sure, but it’s also kind of isolated. You’re about 20 minutes from anything resembling local flavor in Kihei, and forget about popping into Paia for a quick bite – that’s a commitment drive. But the Andaz actually works with this instead of against it. Their restaurants are solid (the breakfast spot overlooks the infinity pool and has these amazing açai bowls), and they’ve got a decent grab-and-go market for those times when you just need snacks and sunscreen without driving anywhere. The spa is tucked into this quiet corner with treatment rooms that open to private gardens – I splurged on a massage there and could hear the waves the entire time. The beach access is direct and the staff sets up chairs and umbrellas without you having to ask, which sounds small but makes a huge difference when you’re juggling kids or just don’t want to think about logistics. Sure, it’s pricey – this is Wailea, after all – but for a luxury resort experience that doesn’t feel stuffy or overly manufactured, it really delivers. Just don’t expect any local dive bars within walking distance.

Visitors often choose Hawaii apartments over traditional hotels because they provide more space, kitchen facilities, and the opportunity to live like a local in this magnificent Pacific paradise.

  Access to the beach and beach accessories were very helpful. The resort fee does include a lot of actual amenities (snorkel gear, beach chairs, experiences). Location to a nearby shopping center was great and provided additional non-beach activities, and the courtesy vehicle made it accessible. Staff of all departments were great.

  It was such a beautiful property! The open-air lobby was so nice. We actually fell asleep on one of the couches waiting for our room (We got there early). The smells at this property just put you on island time immediately. We had a wonderful time at the luau. We decided to do it the day we arrived because we were already so comfortable! There was direct access to the beach, the food was amazing, and the staff was so helpful! We had all these plans to explore, but we were so comfortable at the resort that we didn't do quite as much as we had planned. We actually had a red-eye to catch on the last day, and we could only get a 12:00 PM Check out. The staff offered to keep our luggage for us, let us hang out at the resort, and let us know about the shower room on site so that we could have a shower before our flight. I would stay here every time!
