Bamboo Valley Inn Overview
First Impressions
Tucked away on Maui’s North Shore, Bamboo Valley Inn feels like stumbling upon a well-kept secret. I mean, you’re driving through Haiku — which honestly feels more like rural countryside than typical Hawaii — and suddenly there’s this charming three-star property that just gets everything right. The moment you pull into their free parking area, you realize this isn’t your typical tourist trap. It’s the kind of place where the 9.5 rating actually makes sense once you’ve been there.
Location & Surroundings
Here’s what I love about the location — you’re genuinely off the beaten path but not inconveniently so. Haiku sits between the famous Road to Hana and Paia town, so you get this perfect balance of tranquility and accessibility. The couples who stay here seem to really appreciate that aspect (they rate the location 9.0, which tracks). You know what’s great? You can actually hear the bamboo rustling at night instead of traffic or crowds. During the day, you’re close enough to explore the island’s highlights without feeling like you’re staying in the middle of chaos.
The Accommodations
The room I stayed in had this authentic Hawaiian cottage vibe — not the resort version, but something that felt genuinely local. The windows open wide to let in those trade winds, and honestly, the natural ventilation works better than you’d expect. What struck me was how thoughtfully everything was arranged. The space feels bigger than it probably is, and there’s this attention to detail that you don’t always find at three-star properties. The recent guests who rated the location 8.8 clearly picked up on the same thing I did — this place just feels right.
The Experience
Staying here is sort of like having a local friend’s guest house, if that makes sense. The staff knows the area inside and out — they’ll point you toward the best hiking trails and the food trucks that locals actually frequent. I spent most mornings just sitting outside with coffee, watching the mist roll through the valley. It’s that kind of place where you slow down whether you planned to or not. The bamboo groves around the property create this natural sound barrier that makes everything feel more private and peaceful than you’d expect.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets Bamboo Valley Inn apart is how it manages to feel both authentic and comfortable without trying too hard. You’re not paying resort prices, but you’re getting something more valuable — a genuine taste of what Maui feels like when you step away from the tourist zones. The free parking might seem like a small thing, but when you’re exploring the island daily, it’s actually a huge convenience. Couples especially seem to connect with the romantic, secluded atmosphere here. It’s the kind of place where you’ll find yourself planning your next visit before you’ve even checked out.

It felt like home, everything is so organized and we had there everything we wanted, cooking tools, towels and beach towels, chairs and boogies, outdoor shower to clean after the beach. Its a private spot surrounded by nature. Very recommended 🫶🏼

Lanai was fabulous – spent every night out there looking at the stars and listening to the rain. The the “grand room” was really nice too. Loved the “rain forest” atmosphere. Tom was always responsive to my questions and was great to have coolers and beach chairs available for us to use.

Wow, Maui!!!!
Rainbow Village Inn a perfect retreat.
Beautiful scenery.
Home cooking in the kitchen may be a challenge to those not experienced in adaptability. I used the large electric frying pan to cook as no hob. I like that. I cooked pancakes, sausages, eggs, steak, stir fry, and anything else that came to my mind but cakes didn't work. Restaurants in Paia OK but a little enterprise meant we booked for one eel and stayed three!Stefanie from Germany (10/10)
When we arrived at the vacation rental we found a big tray with coffee, snack bars, teas, milk, different kind of oatmeal and other goodies. Really nice as we had not done any shopping for breakfast and that gave us a good start the next morning. The apartment has a great size for two people and also an extra bedroom, so we could have been more guests. We used the kitchen only for preparing breakfasts but we realized that there was also a supply of spices, oil and other kitchen helpers – really great The apartment is situated in the lush nature, you can watch birds on the terrace and enjoy the environment. We loved the supply of enough towles for bathroom and beach as well and that you have the feeling that the hosts Vicky and Tom really take great care about their guests – Mahalo!

The suite was extremely comfortable and well stocked with everything we needed. It was really helpful to have beach chairs and a cooler to use for excursions. The property is secluded and quiet, just what we were looking for. The spacious lanai had lovely views of the foliage and Haleakala.

It is a very nice flat in a house with all facilities like washing machine, dish washer etc. The host provided additionally beach towels, beach chairs, cooling box and boogie boards at no costs which definitely enriched our beach experiences. Check in and out was very smooth and the host provided detailed informations on the facility and potential sights or facilities in the neighborhood. We would definitely come back.
