Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Belle Vue Kona Inc? The name doesn’t really do it justice – I was expecting something fancy and formal, but it’s actually got this laid-back, unpretentious vibe that just works perfectly for the Big Island. I mean, it’s technically a 3-star place, but honestly, that 9.2 rating tells the real story here. Sometimes the best spots are the ones that don’t try too hard to impress you with marble lobbies and overpriced cocktails.
The thing about staying here is that you’re getting that authentic Kona experience without all the tourist trap nonsense. I remember checking in and the staff actually remembered my name by the second day – not because they had to, but because the place is small enough that they genuinely get to know their guests. The rooms are clean and comfortable (nothing fancy, but everything works), and there’s this honest simplicity that I found pretty refreshing after dealing with some of the bigger resort chains on the island. What really sold me was stepping out in the morning and realizing how quiet it gets – you can actually hear the birds instead of just traffic and construction noise.
Here’s what I wish someone had told me before I booked: the real magic happens when you start exploring from here. You’re positioned perfectly to hit up some of the local coffee farms without fighting the crowds, and there are these little family-run restaurants within walking distance that most tourists never find. The parking situation is straightforward (which, trust me, matters more than you think in Kona), and the whole area has this residential feel where you’re not constantly surrounded by other visitors taking selfies. I spent one evening just sitting outside listening to the locals chat story, and it felt more like staying at a friend’s place than a hotel. Sure, you won’t get a spa or a fancy pool bar, but if you’re the type who came to Hawaii to actually experience Hawaii rather than just Instagram it, Belle Vue gets it right. The value here is ridiculous when you consider you’re getting genuine hospitality and a real sense of place for way less than those massive resorts down the coast.

You arise to birds frolicking at feeders outside your patio door. You step onto the lanai & look forever down the mountain & out to sea. You enter your kitchenette & make coffee w/ the Keurig® cups left out (or tea) and put some bread in the toaster. Perhaps grab a banana from the garden in the basket on the kitchen table.
Check in w/ your hostess, former Clinique model from Strasbourg, Alsace, Viviane for ideas to more than fill your time. (And as an Alsacienne, she is fluent in German & French)
After a day down at the coast, or perhaps some kayaking, enjoy the lavish sunsets from your lanai, and then maybe catch a show on the large-screen TV. Full laundry facilities are a couple steps away (finish by 8 PM).
Turn on the overhead fans, open your patio doors, and let the mountain air blow through your apartment as the king bed enfolds you in sleep.Susan from United States (9/10)
The Rose room was very large. There was a gorgeous view and the location was great.

There was fresh fruit, bread, jam, cereal, milk, coffee and tea provided in the fridge. There was also a microwave, stovetop and toaster. So if you wanted something more than you could have picked something at the store across the way. We liked that we could eat when we wanted then head off on our adventures Vivianne greatest us and told us some great things we could do. The property had phenomenal views and was very peaceful. The nights were loud with critters, which didn’t bother us but could be negative to someone sound sensitive.

The view is to die for, as the name implies.

Spectacular vista and lovely flower garden with songbirds. We did not want to leave our terrace.

The hostess was very kind; when we showed up, she gave us a complimentary upgrade to the honeymoon suite, which was a separate cottage. The Belle Vue is on 4 acres of farm land, and I think it has the best view on the island. We couldn’t get over how beautiful it was! Additionally, there were lots of friendly geckos on the balcony, and beautiful birds as the bird feeders are kept well stocked. It was extremely quiet, the cottage itself was pretty, and the bed was exceptionally comfortable.

Great little apartment with a wonderful view of the Kona Coast. We loved sitting out there and looking at the view with all the unique birds and beautiful flowers and everything. I liked that I could use the washer and drier, and the kitchen had everything we needed. The t.v. and sofa room were really nice. It was very private and a good location.

The most important thing for us is always the view and this property delivered. The wide ocean and mountain scenery are beautifully framed by the colorful and well-manicured gardens. Private patio seating is a lovely place to take in the panorama and sunsets/sunrises. We enjoyed spacious quarters, a comfy bed, lots of hot water, birdsong and the company of our gracious host Viviane who generously offered us some of the bounty of her gardens. The property is secluded and quiet with no road noise, but is conveniently just minutes down the hill from the Choicemart grocery in Captain Cook. Local dining gems are Shaka Tacos, Rebel Kitchen, Teshima’s, and Gypsea Gelato and coffee.

The best part of this stay was the view it offered when we woke up. We came in while it was dark and had seen pictures of what to expect. To see the view live was amazing. We loved sitting outside in the morning and enjoying our coffee and the vista. There were many breakfast cereal choices available.
