Big Island Golf Villas by Coldwell Banker Island Vacations Overview
First Impressions
When I first pulled up to Big Island Golf Villas by Coldwell Banker Island Vacations, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from a three-star property in Waikoloa. But you know what? Sometimes the best surprises come in understated packages. These villas have this relaxed, residential feel that immediately puts you at ease — none of that stuffy hotel lobby atmosphere. It’s more like staying at a friend’s place, if your friend happened to live on one of Hawaii’s most coveted golf courses.
The Waikoloa Advantage
Here’s what I love about this location — you’re right in the heart of the Waikoloa resort area, but without paying those resort prices. The Big Island’s west coast is where you want to be, trust me. The weather’s consistently gorgeous here while other parts of the island might be dealing with rain or clouds. You’re walking distance to some seriously good restaurants and shops, and the beaches at Waikoloa are actually some of my favorites on the island. Less crowded than the Kona spots, but just as beautiful.
Villa Life
Each villa feels like your own private retreat — and I mean that. You get a full kitchen, which honestly saves you a fortune when you’re staying on the Big Island (island food prices, you know?). The room layouts are spacious and thoughtfully designed, with lanais that overlook either the golf course or tropical landscaping. What struck me most was how quiet everything is, despite being so close to all the action. The trade winds flow through perfectly, so you might not even need the AC during the day.
Golf and Beyond
Obviously, if you’re into golf, you’re in paradise here. The Waikoloa courses are right there, and honestly, playing golf with views of Mauna Kea in the distance never gets old. But even if you’re not a golfer (like half my family), there’s plenty to keep you busy. The snorkeling at nearby Anaeho’omalu Bay is incredible — we saw sea turtles practically every time we went out. And parking is never an issue here, which might sound trivial until you’ve tried to find a spot at some of the busier resort areas.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is the value proposition. You’re getting that resort-area experience without the resort fees and crowds. The staff knows the area inside and out — they’ll point you toward the best local spots that most tourists never find. I’ve stayed here multiple times now, and it’s become my go-to when I want to feel like I’m living on the Big Island rather than just visiting it. The fact that couples rate it so highly makes perfect sense — there’s something romantic about having your own villa with sunset views and the sound of golf course sprinklers in the evening. It’s Hawaii, but at a pace that actually lets you relax.
Visitors often choose Hawaii apartments over traditional hotels because they provide more space, kitchen facilities, and the opportunity to live like a local in this magnificent Pacific paradise.
