Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Club Wyndham Shearwater? It’s one of those places that doesn’t try too hard to impress you with flashy lobbies or over-the-top everything, but somehow ends up being exactly what you needed. I mean, it’s technically a 3-star property, but honestly, it punches way above its weight class – that 8.8 rating isn’t just a fluke. The whole vibe feels more like staying at a well-run beach house that happens to have professional housekeeping and a front desk. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward, none of that “let me tell you about seventeen amenities you’ll never use” spiel, just friendly people who actually seemed to care about whether you had a good stay.
What really sets this place apart is how it manages to feel both relaxed and well-maintained at the same time. The rooms have this lived-in comfort that makes you want to kick off your shoes immediately – you know that sweet spot between “fancy hotel sterile” and “budget motel questionable”? They’ve nailed it. The beds are legitimately comfortable (I’m picky about this stuff), and there’s enough space to actually unpack without playing Tetris with your luggage. I loved how quiet it gets at night too; you can hear the ocean if you listen for it, but no hallway stomping or ice machine symphonies at 2 AM. Parking is straightforward – no valet nonsense or hunting for spots three blocks away, which honestly makes such a difference when you’re hauling beach gear or groceries.
The thing that keeps drawing people back here, though, is how the staff treats you like you’re staying with friends rather than just another reservation number. They remember your name after day two, they’ll point you toward the good breakfast spot down the road (not the tourist trap everyone else recommends), and they’re genuinely helpful without being hovery. It’s that rare balance where you feel taken care of but not suffocated. Sure, it’s not going to blow your mind with infinity pools or celebrity chef restaurants, but sometimes you just want a clean, comfortable place where everything works, the Wi-Fi doesn’t make you want to scream, and you can relax without worrying about hidden fees or unpleasant surprises. If you’re the type who values substance over flash – good sleep, reasonable prices, and people who give a damn – this place will probably end up on your favorites list.
To book a hotel in Hawaii during the famous winter whale watching season, visitors should make reservations well in advance as the islands attract tropical paradise seekers and ocean lovers from around the world.

Excellent location with very large rooms, a full kitchen, and laundry facilities. The balcony included lounge chairs and a dining area overlooking the ocean with beautiful views. There was a small pool and jacuzzi also overlooking the ocean. Amazing sunrise views!

Beautiful and spacious. On the golf course and ocean, with a lovely deck that looked over both. Great beds and pillows.

We had a 2 bedroom suite and it was spacious with a large deck facing the ocean. Evenings were spent on the deck watching the moonrise and soaking up the incredible sounds of the big surf. It felt like quintessential Hawaii.
