Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels in Waikiki, and honestly? The Embassy Suites on Beach Walk surprised me in the best way. You know how some places just feel right the moment you walk in? This is one of those spots. The lobby has this airy, tropical vibe without being too theme-park-ish – I mean, you’re still clearly in a Hilton property, but they’ve actually managed to capture some of that laid-back Hawaiian energy.

What really sold me was the location, though. Beach Walk is sort of tucked away from the crazy hustle of Kalakaua Avenue, so you’re not dealing with tour buses rumbling past your window at 6 AM, but you can still walk to the beach in like three minutes. The whole area feels more… I don’t know, neighborhood-y? There’s this great little coffee spot called Island Vintage Coffee right around the corner that locals actually go to, not just tourists. And here’s something most people don’t realize – you’re actually closer to the less crowded part of Waikiki Beach, which is clutch if you want to avoid the circus near the Royal Hawaiian.

The suites themselves are pretty spacious by Waikiki standards (trust me, hotel rooms here can be shoebox-tiny), and I loved having that separate living area. After a day of beach time and wandering around, it’s nice to spread out a bit. The kitchen setup is basic but functional – perfect for storing those expensive Whole Foods groceries or leftover plate lunch. Oh, and the morning breakfast thing? Actually decent. I was expecting typical hotel continental fare, but they do a proper omelet station and the coffee doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting around since yesterday. The evening manager’s reception is kind of a nice touch too, especially if you want to chat with other travelers without hitting the hotel bar prices.

I’ll be real with you – it’s not the fanciest place on the strip, and if you’re looking for that ultra-luxury resort experience with infinity pools and celebrity chef restaurants, this isn’t it. But that 8.6 rating makes total sense to me. It’s just… solid. Really solid. The staff actually seems to care (shoutout to the front desk guy who helped me figure out the bus system), the rooms are clean and comfortable, and you’re perfectly positioned to explore both the touristy stuff and the more authentic corners of the island. Plus, parking here won’t completely destroy your budget like some of the beachfront resorts. Sometimes you want a place that just works well and doesn’t try too hard – somewhere you can crash comfortably after a day of adventures and wake up ready to do it all again. This place nails that vibe.

  Location and general ease of getting around. We were there early – room wasn’t ready – and then our room was late, when we went back a third time there was still an issue but there was a man of Asian descent at check in who was very good and solution oriented and sorted it out immediately as opposed to the First Lady who just kept saying no even after 3pm – he had exceptional customer service and should be training the other staff

  The room was large enough for 5 of us, beds were comfortable, and pool area well kept and large enough for number of guests using it. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was not as varied as higher end hotels we have stayed at however it was free. The omelettes were nice. Could do with more fresh cut fruit options The free afternoon drinks were a nice inclusion. I would stay here again for the great location and space for the price, was a good value option for us.

  Staff was very polite and kind. Our flight arrived early in the morning, kids were jet lagged, front desk staff was so kind and gave us early check in so we can rest. This was the highlight of our trip no doubt.

  Great location in downtown Honolulu, close to Waikiki Beach. Brilliant access to local shops and restaurants, all a very small walk away. Room was a very good size, and it was good value for money right in the heart of Honolulu.
