Fairmont Kea Lani, Maui Overview
You know what hits you first at the Fairmont Kea Lani? It’s honestly not the sprawling lobby or the fancy marble – it’s stepping out and realizing you’re basically on one of Maui’s most stunning stretches of coastline in Wailea. I mean, Polo Beach is right there, and unlike some of those cramped resort beaches, this one actually feels like you have room to breathe.
The suites here are genuinely spacious – and I’m not just saying that because most hotel rooms are shoebox-sized. We’re talking separate living areas with those deep sofa beds that don’t feel like medieval torture devices, plus kitchenettes that are actually useful if you want to store some of those incredible Maui Gold pineapples from the farmers market in Kihei. The all-suite thing isn’t just marketing speak; it really does make a difference when you’re staying more than a couple nights. The resort sits on this elevated spot where you can see the outer islands on clear days – Molokini Crater is right there in your view, which honestly never gets old. What I really appreciate is how they’ve managed to keep that classic Hawaiian luxury feel without going overboard on the tiki torches and fake waterfalls that some places do.
The pools are where this place really shines though – there’s this lagoon-style setup that winds around with actual sandy areas where kids can play (parents, you’ll thank me for this tip). It’s not just one of those standard rectangular pools with some fake rocks thrown around it. And speaking of practical stuff – parking is included, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many luxury resorts nickel and dime you for that. The beach access is seamless too; no weird elevator rides or long walks through maze-like corridors. Check-in was smooth when we went in February, though I’d imagine things get busier during peak season around Christmas and spring break. One small thing – the resort can feel a bit sprawling when you’re trying to get from your suite to the main pool area, especially if you end up in one of the further buildings, but honestly the golf cart shuttles run pretty regularly. The location puts you close enough to walk to some of Wailea’s other resort restaurants if you want to explore beyond the property, and you’re maybe fifteen minutes from the shops at Wailea if you need to grab anything. It’s that sweet spot where you feel secluded but not stranded – you can easily drive up to Haleakala for sunrise or down to Makena Beach for some of the island’s best snorkeling without feeling like you’re embarking on a major expedition.

Walking distance to beach, staff was incredibly friendly and very helpful. Amazing cleanliness, just made our vacation a perfect home away from home!

Excellent staff helped with everything and very polite and friendly. Adult pool tidy and peaceful, good breakfast buffet. Suite cleaned daily unless we requested it wasn’t. Good water pressure in the showers and facilities. Spa facilities are separate however we only went to the spa for couples massage so didn’t bother us. We were on our honeymoon and got our room upgraded for free and a couple of discount vouchers for use at the spa. Courtesy car very handy for general use in Wilea. Overall stay at the property was an 11/10, nice romantic and private feel to the resort and the rooms. We will be back to stay no question.

Loved having a suite. Excellent message. Nick's and Ko's were outstanding. The early mornings on the balcony watching the whales, dolphins, and sea turtles were incredible. Loved the birds and all the trees. The hotel felt crisp, open, and clean.
