You know what struck me first about Hawaii Getaway? It’s one of those places where the 3-star rating honestly doesn’t tell the whole story. I mean, sure, it’s not going to blow you away with marble lobbies or concierge services, but there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about it that actually works in its favor. The moment you walk in, you get this immediate sense that the staff genuinely wants you to have a good time – not in that over-the-top resort way, but more like your friend’s family welcoming you to their beach house.

The location is what really makes this place shine, though they don’t exactly advertise it well (honestly, I had to do some digging to figure out exactly where I was going). Once you’re there, you realize you’ve stumbled onto something special. You’re close enough to hear the ocean at night with your windows open, but far enough from the main tourist strips that you’re not dealing with crowds of people dragging their roller bags past your room at 6 AM. I spent most evenings just walking around the neighborhood – there’s this little local coffee spot about two blocks away where the barista actually remembered my order by day three, and you’ll find these incredible food trucks that the resort guests never seem to discover. The parking situation is better than most places too, which honestly is half the battle in Hawaii.

What really impressed me was how the place manages to feel both laid-back and well-maintained. The rooms aren’t fancy, but they’re spotlessly clean and everything actually works – you know how sometimes in budget places the shower pressure is terrible or the AC sounds like a freight train? None of that here. The beds are surprisingly comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses), and there’s something to be said for falling asleep to actual ocean sounds instead of traffic. The pool area gets busy during peak afternoon hours, but if you’re an early riser like me, you’ll have it practically to yourself around 7 AM. That 9.5 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there a few days – it’s not trying to be something it’s not, but what it does, it does really well. I’ve stayed at plenty of 4 and 5-star places that left me more frustrated than this little gem did.

Early hotels booking in Hawaii is essential during major events like the Ironman World Championship, as accommodations fill up quickly with visitors eager to experience the islands’ renowned surfing culture and tropical beauty.

  I have to admit that from outside doesn’t look like much. BUT once you get in you don’t want to leave. It is beautiful, clean and the owners are awesome. They help you with anything you need as well as right away they send you a list of things to do and see. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND.

  Close to everything but far enough away that it was quiet and peaceful! We greatly enjoyed the modern space on a beautiful property – avocados and papayas outdoors and all the amenities we needed indoors. Hosts were awesome, had great communication and were wifi wizards!

  This place matched the photos exactly. It was an easily accessible location that kept me in proximity to much of what Kailua Kona has to offer. It can be a bit disorienting when you arrive if you arrive in the dark (nighttime is intensely dark in Hawaii); however, the host offered excellent directions so that I could find my bearings! The unit is well appointed with everything you may need including cutlery, dishes, a kettle, bath towels, washer/dryer, and fast wi-fi. I quite enjoyed my stay, and wish I had been there longer! If you’re in the area, be sure to book a farm tour at Heavenly Hawaiian Kona Coffee and/or take a shelter dog from the Hawaii Island Humane Society out on a field trip – both are only about a 5 minute drive away from this place!

  We really enjoyed our stay at the accommodation. The apartment is well furnished and has all the equipment (kitchen equipment, bathroom equipment, beach equipment, etc.) that you need for a great stay on the island. The accommodation was one of the best we had in Hawaii. The location is also very good. The communication with the host was excellent. We received helpful information and quick answers to our questions. We can recommend the accommodation without reservation. Thanks to the owners/hosts!
