Honestly, when I first saw the name “High Rise Ocean View Waikiki Condo” I was expecting another generic tourist trap, but this place actually surprised me. The building itself sits right in the heart of Waikiki – you know, that sweet spot where you’re close enough to everything but not directly on the chaos of Kalakaua Avenue. What really sold me was walking into the unit and seeing that ocean view they promise in the name. I mean, it’s not like you’re hanging over the water or anything, but you can actually see blue between the other high-rises, which in Waikiki is honestly pretty good these days.

The condo setup works really well if you’re planning to stay more than a couple nights. There’s a proper kitchen (not just a mini-fridge and microwave situation), which comes in handy because let’s be real – eating out for every meal in Waikiki will drain your wallet fast. I loved being able to grab fresh poke from Foodland Farms down on Kapahulu and actually have a decent place to eat it. The free parking is honestly the real MVP here though – I can’t stress enough how much of a game-changer that is in this area. Most places either don’t have parking at all or charge you like $35 a night for the privilege of not walking six blocks with your luggage. The Wi-Fi actually works too, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many places in Hawaii still struggle with that.

Location-wise, you’re maybe a three-minute walk to Kuhio Beach, and if you head toward Diamond Head, the crowds thin out pretty quickly. The building’s positioned so you don’t get the full brunt of the street noise from Kalakaua, but you’ll still hear some activity – it’s Waikiki, not a monastery. What I really appreciated was being able to walk to places like Marukame Udon or that little ABC Store on the corner without feeling like I needed to plan an expedition. The 8.5 rating feels about right – it’s not going to win any design awards and the building shows its age in spots, but everything works, it’s clean, and honestly, you’re probably going to be out exploring most of the time anyway. If you’re looking for that balance between having your own space and being right in the middle of everything without paying resort prices, this place actually delivers on what it promises.
