Hotel Description
You know what really surprised me about The Point at Poipu? It’s actually one of those Hilton Vacation Club properties that feels way more relaxed than the rating suggests. I mean, sure, it’s technically a 3-star place, but honestly, the location does most of the heavy lifting here. You’re basically walking distance to Poipu Beach – and I’m talking like a genuine 5-minute stroll, not that “walking distance” nonsense where you need hiking boots and a water bottle.
The whole setup is pretty clever, actually. It’s got that vacation rental vibe since it’s timeshare-based, so you’ll see a lot of families who’ve been coming back for years (which tells you something right there). The units themselves are spacious – way more room than your typical hotel situation. I stayed in a one-bedroom that had a proper kitchen, which was clutch for storing all those expensive groceries from Foodland. The lanais are decent sized too, and if you’re lucky enough to snag one of the upper units, you’ll catch some ocean glimpses between the palm trees. Nothing dramatic, but it’s there.
What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays, even during peak season. The property’s tucked back from the main Poipu road just enough that you don’t hear much traffic noise, but you’re still super close to everything that matters – Brennecke’s Beach Broiler is literally across the street if you want decent fish tacos without the drive. The pool area gets busy around 10 AM when families start filtering down, but early morning or late afternoon? Pretty peaceful. And here’s something nobody mentions – the parking is actually stress-free, which in Poipu is saying something. Most of the resort hotels nearby charge for parking or make you hunt for spots, but here it’s just… handled.
Look, it’s not going to blow you away with fancy finishes or over-the-top amenities. The decor is sort of standard vacation rental territory – think island-themed but not too kitschy. But that 8.2 rating makes sense when you factor in what really matters: location, space, and value. You’re paying way less than the Grand Hyatt down the road, but you’re in the exact same neighborhood with access to the same beaches and restaurants. The staff keeps things running smoothly without being overly formal about it – more like helpful neighbors than hotel employees, if that makes sense. For families or anyone planning to spend more time exploring the island than lounging in their room, it’s honestly a smart choice. Just don’t expect resort-level service or amenities, and you’ll probably leave pretty happy with the whole experience.

Great property, really enjoyed the location and the visit overall. Beautiful setting, easily access many other attractions on Hawaii. Concierge desk (I talked to two people) was oustanding. They really knew their stuff and gave great recommendations for what to do on the island. The pool was great, too, and had a pretty good happy hour at the pool bar! The water filtration stand was a nice bonus.
