Holualoa Gardens 103 Overview

First Impressions

Holualoa Gardens 103 sits right on Alii Drive, and honestly, the location hits you before anything else does. This three-star condo feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a typical hotel — which is exactly what makes it work so well. The building has that relaxed Hawaiian vibe without trying too hard, and you’ll notice right away that couples seem to gravitate here (they rate the location a solid 9.5, and I get why). The oceanfront setting provides immediate access to the natural beauty that defines the Big Island experience.

The Kailua-Kona Sweet Spot

You know what’s great about this spot? You’re actually in the heart of Kailua-Kona without dealing with the chaos of some of the bigger resort areas. Alii Drive puts you within walking distance of decent restaurants and shops, but more importantly, you’re close enough to the water that you can hear it from your unit. The free parking situation is clutch here — I mean, finding parking in Kona can be a real headache, so having your own guaranteed spot makes a difference you’ll appreciate daily. This central location offers the perfect balance between accessibility and tranquility.

The Unit Itself

Unit 103 has this comfortable, lived-in feel that works perfectly for couples or small groups. The space is well-maintained without being fancy — think clean lines, functional kitchen, and that Hawaiian casual aesthetic that doesn’t feel forced. The lanai (that’s your private balcony) becomes your morning coffee spot and evening wind-down space. It’s not huge, but it’s thoughtfully laid out, and you’ll find yourself spending more time here than you’d expect. The room design maximizes comfort while maintaining an authentic island atmosphere.

What the Location Really Means

Being on Alii Drive means you’re in the real Kona, not some manufactured resort bubble. You can walk to grab groceries, hit up local plate lunch spots, or just stroll along the waterfront when the mood strikes. The snorkeling at nearby beaches is actually pretty decent — nothing extraordinary, but good enough that you’ll want to bring your gear. Plus, you’re positioned well for day trips up to Waimea or down to the southern part of the Big Island without feeling like you’re starting from the middle of nowhere.

Why Guests Love It

That 9.2 rating makes sense once you spend a few days here. Holualoa Gardens 103 delivers on the basics really well — it’s clean, comfortable, and positioned perfectly for exploring Kona at your own pace. The fact that couples consistently rate it so highly tells you something about the vibe here; it’s relaxed enough to actually unwind but close enough to everything that you won’t feel isolated. You’re not getting resort amenities, but you’re also not paying resort prices, and sometimes that trade-off is exactly what you need for a proper Hawaiian getaway. This apartment represents genuine value for discerning travelers.

To book hotel in Hawaii for the winter surf season, travelers reserve early to pair early beach mornings with late luau evenings.

We are so pleased with our stay here. Jeyana is the most amazing host we've ever had. She is incredibly responsive and helpful. She even provides great recommendations. The condo is clean and spacious. It's right across the street from the ocean. The kitchen is well-stocked with everything you need to cook dinner or pack a picnic. There are even some spices and oils for cooking. There is air conditioning and a dedicated parking spot so you don't have to find street parking. The bed is unbelievably comfortable! It was so nice not to have to track down and rent snorkel gear and beach towels as she provides those, and she even provides a boogie board and beach toys (though we were not there with kids). The bathroom products were quality and ample. Oh – and there's a washer and dryer too, which is incredibly convenient. The condo is convenient to downtown Kona to the north and to Two Step and Captain Cook Monument in the south (both great snorkeling spots). We just loved our stay here and would definitely stay again.

It is perfect for its kind. Great flat, with everything you might need, from a very well equipped kitchen to the snorkeling tools. Pool available, parking spot just in front.

This apartment was perfect for our 8 nights in Kona. This was our first time visiting the Big Island, so we didn't know exactly where we wanted to base ourselves, but this location turned out to be very central to most places we were visiting and we would definitely book this exact apartment again if we are lucky enough to return. The apartment provided all the basics we needed to make our lives very easy. From salt/pepper to pods for the washer/dryer. There were even ice packs to use for the cooler, which we used everyday! We also loved that we only needed a key code for the door so that we didn't have to worry about keeping track of a key. I really hope this unit is available the next time we visit, because we will definitely want to stay here again. Thanks for making it so stress free!

  • Evelyn from United States (10/10)

Great location! Very comfortable. So many extras like laundry detergent, coffee, snorkel gear, cooler, etc. Was very clean. would definitely stay again.

  • Sara from United States (8/10)

The apartment was great. Had everything we needed and more: tea, coffee, sugar, oil, beach things, hats, etc. Much appreciated when you are traveling. Very clean and pleasant. The extra twin beds were much better than a sleeping sofa as in most other apartments of similar size. Mahalo

The host had the apartment well stocked! There were many items that I had never even thought about! Coffee was an important one! The apartment is right across the street from the ocean and many different style beaches! Shopping and excellent dining is within 3 miles in Kailua-Kona!
