Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to IH805 Waikiki on Ala Moana Boulevard, I wasn’t expecting much from the name alone. It sounds more like a highway marker than a hotel, right? But here’s the thing about this place – it’s actually positioned pretty brilliantly if you know Honolulu at all. You’re literally on Ala Moana, which means you can walk to the beach park (the locals’ favorite, not the touristy Waikiki strip) and you’re close enough to the action without being stuck in the middle of all that Kalakaua Avenue chaos. The hotel itself has that solid 4-star feel – nothing flashy, but everything works the way it should. Check-in was smooth, the lobby has this clean, modern vibe without trying too hard to scream “tropical paradise” at you.
What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night, considering you’re still in the heart of things. I mean, you’ll hear some traffic from Ala Moana – it’s a main road after all – but it’s not like those places right on the strip where drunk tourists are singing karaoke until 3 AM. The rooms are well-maintained (honestly better than some 5-star places I’ve stayed where they’re coasting on reputation), and the AC actually keeps up with the Hawaii humidity, which… trust me, that’s not always a given. You know what really sold me though? The staff genuinely knows the area. When I asked about getting to Diamond Head early to beat the crowds, the front desk guy didn’t just hand me a generic brochure – he told me exactly which bus to catch and mentioned that Wednesday mornings are usually the least crowded. That’s the kind of local insight that makes a difference.
The location thing is huge here, actually. You’re walking distance to Ala Moana Center (massive shopping, great food court, and they have that Foodland if you need real groceries), but you can also easily get to places like Chinatown or even hop the bus to the North Shore without fighting through Waikiki traffic first. Parking costs extra – because of course it does, this is Honolulu – but it’s covered and secure, which matters more than you’d think when you’re dealing with island weather. I’d definitely stay here again, especially for that solid 8/10 rating it’s earned. It’s not trying to be something it’s not, just a really well-run hotel in a spot that actually makes sense for exploring the island. Sometimes that beats all the fancy resort amenities in the world.
Many travelers prefer to book apartments in Hawaii through local agencies that offer personalized recommendations and insider knowledge about the best locations for exploring the islands’ pristine beaches and hidden gems.

The location and the view are excellent.

This apartment was close to the beach, lagoon, restaurants, and shopping. The 8th floor was so quiet–no extraneous/loud noises in the hallway.
