You know what caught me off guard about Kamaole Beach Club C109? It’s one of those places that doesn’t try to impress you with marble lobbies or fancy chandeliers, but somehow ends up being exactly what you didn’t know you needed for a Maui stay. I mean, it’s technically a 3-star property, but honestly – when you’re steps from one of South Maui’s best beaches, who’s counting stars anyway?

The condo itself sits right in the heart of Kihei, and I actually love that it feels more like staying in someone’s beach house than a typical hotel room. The lanai overlooks the courtyard (not ocean views, just so you know), but you can hear the waves from Kamaole Beach II just across the street, which is weirdly comforting when you’re falling asleep. Speaking of the beach – and this is something most people don’t realize until they get there – Kam II is actually the locals’ favorite of the three Kamaole beaches because it’s got the best bodysurfing waves and decent snorkeling on the north end. The parking can get crazy during peak season though, so having a place you can literally walk to in flip-flops? That’s worth its weight in gold.

What really sold me on this spot was all the little things that make it feel authentic. The pool area gets this amazing afternoon light that’s perfect for reading, and there’s usually a good mix of families and couples without feeling overcrowded. The kitchen in C109 is surprisingly well-stocked – I was able to make actual meals instead of surviving on resort food, which saved me a fortune. Plus, you’re right across from Foodland Kihei if you need groceries, and honestly, their poke counter is better than half the restaurants charging twice as much down in Wailea. The trade winds really do their thing here too, so even though there’s no AC (which initially worried me), the cross-breeze keeps things comfortable most of the time.

I’ll be straight with you – this isn’t the place if you want daily housekeeping or a concierge to book your dinner reservations. But if you’re the type who’d rather spend your money on snorkel gear rentals and fish tacos from Da Kitchen Express (just down South Kihei Road), then you’ll get why this place has such a high rating. The whole vibe is just… relaxed. Real relaxed. And after dealing with the airport crowds and rental car chaos, that’s exactly what your first day in paradise should feel like.

  We enjoyed the location of the condominium. Steps away from the beach across the street. Plenty of shops and cafes for breakfast lunch or dinner. It’s right on the bus line so it can take you all the way up to Kahlului. Wonderful view from the bedroom balcony. Beds are very comfortable. Pull out sofa was very comfortable. Appreciate all the starter shampoo, lotion, and conditioner, as well as, laundry and dishwasher detergent. We booked this trip for my father’s birthday and this was his first time out in Maui and he very much enjoyed staying here. Silverware plates cups blender and anything else you can imagine is provided. Also beach chairs towels snorkel gear bodyboard umbrella speaker some other things are included as well.

  Great location! Grandchildren loved the easy short walk to the beach. Close to stores. Parking is a little tight but very doable. Quiet considering the busy street. Like the push button entry instead of having to carry keys. Grounds were great.
