Hotel Description
Okay, so Kamaole Sands 2-107 – honestly, this place surprised me in the best way. I mean, when you’re booking a condo in Kihei, you’re sort of rolling the dice on what you’ll actually get, but this second-floor unit at Kamaole Sands really delivers. The moment you walk in, there’s this immediate sense of “oh good, someone actually cares about this place.” The furnishings aren’t fancy, but they’re thoughtful – you know what I mean? Like, there’s actually enough counter space in the kitchen to prep a proper meal, and the lanai furniture is comfortable enough that you’ll want to have your morning coffee out there every single day.
What really sold me on this spot is the location within the complex. You’re close enough to the action at Kamaole Beach Park II (literally a two-minute walk) but far enough from South Kihei Road that you won’t hear every car driving by at night. Actually, the sound you’ll hear most is the surf – especially if you keep that sliding door cracked open, which honestly, why wouldn’t you? The beach access here is what locals use too, not just tourists, so you get this nice mix of families from the mainland and kama’aina who know exactly which spot has the best snorkeling. Parking was never an issue when I stayed – there’s plenty of spaces, and unlike some of these older Kihei complexes, you don’t feel like you’re playing musical cars every evening.
Here’s the thing about staying at Kamaole Sands that the photos don’t really capture – it’s got this laid-back, residential vibe that makes you feel less like you’re at a hotel and more like you’re borrowing a friend’s place. The pool area gets busy around 2 PM when families with kids show up, but mornings are perfect for a quiet swim. And you know what? The grounds are actually well-maintained. I’ve stayed at places in Kihei where the landscaping looks like it gave up sometime in the ’90s, but this place feels cared for. The only minor thing – and I’m being picky here – is that the unit could use a few more beach chairs. We ended up buying cheap ones at Foodland (which is super close, by the way) and just left them for the next guests. If you’re planning to spend serious time at the beach, which you obviously are, you might want to do the same. Overall though, this is exactly the kind of place that makes you want to extend your stay an extra few days – comfortable, unpretentious, and positioned perfectly for everything Kihei has to offer.
