You know what struck me first about Kapalua Bay Villas 35G2? It’s not right on the beach like some of those crowded resort strips – actually, that turns out to be perfect. You’re tucked up in the villas overlooking the bay, which means you get these incredible views without the constant foot traffic and beach vendor noise that honestly gets old after day two of any Hawaiian vacation.

The unit itself feels like someone’s well-maintained vacation home rather than a sterile hotel room, which I mean, makes sense given the villa setup. The lanai is where you’ll spend most of your time – I’m talking morning coffee with whales breaching in the distance (if you’re there between December and April), and evening wine while watching the sunset paint Molokai purple. The kitchen’s actually functional too, not just for show, which matters because eating out for every meal in Kapalua will drain your wallet faster than you’d think. There’s a Foodland about fifteen minutes down in Napili if you need groceries, or honestly, the Honolua Store is closer but pricier – tourist tax and all that.

What really sets this place apart is the location within Kapalua itself. You’re close enough to walk to the Bay Beach (maybe ten minutes through the resort), but far enough from the Ritz that you’re not dealing with their crowds. The Coastal Trail is right there too – starts near the beach and winds along these dramatic cliffs. I’d definitely recommend doing that walk early morning before it gets too hot and crowded with the resort guests. Parking’s never been an issue, which sounds boring but trust me, it’s not boring when you’re trying to find a spot at some of the more popular beaches down south. The villa complex is quiet most of the time, though you might hear some chatter from neighboring units if people are really going at it on their lanais – thin walls are sort of the trade-off for that airy, tropical architecture. Check-in was smooth through their property management, though you’ll want to stop by the main office first rather than going straight to the unit. They’re pretty good about having everything ready and giving you the local rundown – which restaurants are worth it, where to see turtles, that sort of thing.
