Kapaa town is just a short walk away, and this is where you’ll find the real local flavor: family-run plate lunch spots, shave ice stands, and that farmers market on Saturday mornings that locals actually shop at. The hotel provides free parking (which saves you about $25 a night compared to some places), and you’re perfectly positioned to explore both the north and south shores without feeling like you’re constantly driving across the island.

The rooms are clean and comfortable, though definitely more functional than fancy — think island casual rather than upscale resort. What matters here is that oceanfront view from your lanai, especially if you snag one of the second-floor rooms. I actually preferred the slightly older feel because it reminded me of Hawaii before everything got so polished and corporate. The air conditioning works well (crucial for those humid Kauai nights), and the kitchenettes in most rooms are surprisingly useful for storing farmers market finds or leftover poke from Foodland.

The Beach Experience

  My first trip to Hawai’i. I had a wonderful stay at Kauai shores. Location right on the ocean, lava lava restaurant on the ocean. It was beautiful. The staff so friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back. Highly recommend! Free bike rentals, free yoga on the beach. All these things made it that much more special!!

  TOP ! Beautiful hotel on the 1st line. Lots of amenities, gorgeous staff, restaurant on the beach, pool, jacuzzi, unique view and wonderful sunrise! Next to it there are various places to eat with different national cuisines, as well as an ABC store
