First off, you’re literally overlooking the Bay Course (the easier of Kapalua’s two legendary tracks), so if you’re into golf, you’ll be watching foursomes tee off while you’re having your morning coffee. But here’s what really got me: they’ve completely redone this unit, and whoever did it actually understands how people live. The kitchen isn’t just pretty – it’s functional, with decent counter space and appliances that actually work well. I spent way more time cooking than I planned because, honestly, it was just pleasant to be in there.

The ocean views are legit, not some sliver you have to crane your neck to see. You’re looking out over Oneloa Bay, and on clear days – which is most days up here – you can see Molokai sitting on the horizon like some ancient sleeping giant. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays, even when the golf course is busy. Kapalua in general sits above the craziness of Kaanapali and Lahaina, so you get this peaceful vibe without feeling completely isolated. The rental car situation is clutch, by the way – parking anywhere in West Maui has become a nightmare, and having reliable wheels included just eliminates so much stress. I drove down to Mama’s Fish House one evening (about 45 minutes through some gorgeous upcountry roads) and didn’t have to worry about finding parking or coordinating rides.

You know what really sold me on this place? The little details that show someone actually thought about the guest experience. The shower pressure is fantastic – sounds silly, but after a day at the beach or hiking the coastal trail, that matters. The lanai furniture is comfortable enough to actually use, not just pretty to photograph. And the AC works efficiently without being loud, which is huge when you want to sleep with the doors open to hear the waves. I mean, you’re paying Kapalua prices, so you should get Kapalua quality, and this place delivers. The only minor thing – and this is really minor – is that the wifi can get a bit spotty during busy evening hours, but honestly, if that’s your biggest problem while staying in one of the most beautiful spots on earth, you’re doing pretty well. The property management is responsive too, which matters when you’re spending this kind of money. I’d absolutely stay here again, and I’m pretty picky about where I drop my bags in Hawaii.

  We had the best time in Kapalua – the apartment was terrific- very comfortable and very convenient to general store, golf and restaurants and if you don’t want to walk you can just ring the shuttle bus – best vacation ever!
