You know what surprised me most about this place? It’s called “Simply Delicious” and honestly, that name totally threw me off at first – I mean, what does that even mean for a vacation rental? But after spending a week here, I actually get it. There’s something genuinely satisfying about this Keauhou property that goes way beyond the obvious stuff like having your own pool (though yeah, that private pool is pretty sweet).

The location is what really makes this work – you’re in Keauhou, which I love because it’s got that authentic Big Island vibe without feeling too touristy. You can actually hear the ocean from the property, and you’re close enough to Ali’i Drive that you can walk to some decent local spots, but far enough back that you’re not dealing with road noise. The house itself feels more like someone’s actual home than a sterile rental – there are real books on the shelves, the kitchen’s actually stocked with useful stuff, and the furniture looks like people picked it out because they liked it, not because it photographs well. I spent most mornings floating in that pool with my coffee, watching the palm trees do their thing, and it just felt… right, you know? The whole setup encourages you to slow down and actually relax instead of rushing around checking boxes off some vacation itinerary.

What I really appreciated was how the place handles the details that matter when you’re staying somewhere for more than a couple nights. The WiFi actually works well (tested it thoroughly while pretending to work), there’s legit water pressure in the shower, and the AC keeps things comfortable without sounding like a jet engine. The outdoor space is where you’ll probably spend most of your time though – they’ve got this covered lanai area that catches the trade winds perfectly, so even when it’s hot during the day, there’s always a spot where you can hang out comfortably. I’m not gonna lie, at three stars it’s not trying to be the Four Seasons, but sometimes that’s exactly what you want. The whole experience feels authentic to the Big Island in a way that bigger resorts just can’t match – you’re staying in a real neighborhood, you can chat with locals at the nearby coffee shop, and you get that sense of what it might actually be like to live here. For the price point and that solid 8.0 rating, it delivers exactly what it promises without any pretense.
