The kitchen has real spices in the cabinet (not just salt packets), decent knives that can handle a fresh ahi steak from the KTA down in Kona, and enough coffee supplies to get you through those early morning lanai sessions. Speaking of the lanai, it’s positioned perfectly to catch the morning light without getting hammered by the afternoon sun, which anyone who’s spent time on the Big Island knows is crucial. The furniture out there is sturdy enough to handle the trade winds, and there’s actually enough seating for four people to comfortably hang out with drinks.

What really sets this place apart though is its location within the complex – unit 201 sits just right so you get those ocean views without being directly above the pool area (trust me, you don’t want to be above the pool). The parking situation is straightforward, which sounds boring but matters when you’re hauling coolers and beach gear after a day at Hapuna or Magic Sands. The whole SeaSpray property feels more residential than resort-y, so you’re not dealing with crowds of tourists in the hallways, but you’re still close enough to everything that matters. It’s maybe a 15-minute drive into Kailua-Kona proper, close enough to grab dinner at Huggo’s or hit the farmers market, but far enough out that you feel like you’re actually on vacation rather than staying in the middle of town. The WiFi actually works well – I know that shouldn’t be noteworthy, but you’d be surprised how many Big Island rentals still struggle with connectivity. Small detail, but when you’re trying to research snorkel spots or check surf conditions, it matters.
