Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Kuhio Shores 107, I wasn’t expecting much from the outside. It’s one of those older Kihei buildings that blends into the strip, but man, was I wrong about what waited inside. The moment you step into unit 107, you’re hit with this incredible ocean view that just stops you in your tracks. I mean, we’re talking unobstructed Pacific stretching to the horizon, and you can actually hear the waves from the lanai – not just see them.

What really got me was how thoughtfully this place is set up. The owner clearly knows what travelers actually need, not just what looks good in photos. The kitchen has everything you’d want for making real meals (because let’s face it, eating out every night in Maui gets expensive fast), and there’s this great little dining nook where you can have your morning coffee while watching the sunrise paint the sky. The AC works perfectly – crucial during those sticky Kihei afternoons – but honestly, you’ll probably keep the doors open most of the time because that trade wind breeze is just perfect. The shower pressure is actually decent too, which you know is always a gamble in vacation rentals.

Location-wise, you’re right in the sweet spot of South Kihei. You can walk to some solid local spots – there’s this little Hawaiian BBQ place just down Kihei Road that the locals hit up, and you’re maybe a five-minute drive to the good beaches like Keawakapu where the sand is softer and the crowds thin out a bit. The building itself is quiet, which surprised me given how close you are to everything. I stayed during peak season and never had issues with noise, even with the lanai doors open at night. Parking is straightforward – just one assigned spot, but it’s covered, which your rental car will thank you for. The 9.2 rating this place has earned makes total sense once you’ve been there a few days. It’s not trying to be some fancy resort experience, but it nails all the stuff that actually matters when you’re island hopping and want a comfortable home base. You’ll find yourself lingering on that lanai way longer than planned, especially during golden hour when the light hits the water just right.

  keyless entry made check in very easy. Great location and easy to access units. Well supplied unit in terms of towels, dishes, beach equipment etc. Well furnished, walking distance to beach access and restaurants

  The location is central and close to a lot of attractions. The welcome basket was such a sweet gesture. The kitchen was well stocked. There were beach toys as well for the kids. Overall a great place to stay!

  We immediately felt so welcomed when we stepped into the living room with Hawaiian treats, coffee, chocolates, and a lovely card from the owner. Check in, parking, and wifi information was given the day before arrival and everything went smoothly with no issues at all. The location was perfect – we had our own private paradise with Poipu Beach only 5 minutes away. Be sure to admire the sea turtles (from a safe distance) around 6pm at Poipu Beach! We were able to explore each coastline of the island since we were situated so well! We were even able to watch whales jump and dance out in the ocean from the comfort of our porch! Our lodging was spacious, comfortable, clean, and cozy. The kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom had everything we needed, and there were even extra fold out chairs, snorkel gear, beach towels, and a mini cooler in the bathroom closet. Since Poipu Beach was so close, we even managed to get an incredible snorkel sesh in before we showered and checked out for the airport. We will definitely be staying here again in the future, hopefully with some friends and family!
