Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be straight with you about this place – the Luxury Ala Moana Resort on the 25th floor is one of those spots that sounds almost too good to be true, but actually delivers where it counts. When you first walk into that unit and see the balcony stretching out toward the ocean, you sort of forget about everything else for a minute. The view hits different when you’re up that high, especially if you snag one of the units facing south toward Magic Island and the harbor.
What really got me was how the balcony becomes your whole evening routine. I mean, you’ll find yourself out there with your morning coffee watching the early surfers, then back again around sunset with whatever drink you’ve managed to cobble together. The trade winds actually reach you up there – not like those lower floors where the air just sits heavy and still. Honestly, the resort itself is solid four-star territory, nothing that’ll blow your mind but everything works like it should. The elevators are quick (thank god, because 25 floors is a lot when you’re hauling beach gear), and the lobby has that clean, modern vibe without being too sterile.
You know what they don’t tell you in the typical descriptions? The location is clutch for people who actually want to do stuff beyond just resort activities. You’re basically right there when Ala Moana Center opens, which is perfect for grabbing real groceries or hitting up that Shirokiya food court when you need something that doesn’t cost resort prices. The beach park is right across the street – locals use it constantly, so you know it’s the real deal – and the lagoon area is surprisingly good for families with little kids since the water stays shallow and calm. Parking can be a bit of a dance during busy seasons, but the resort staff generally knows how to work around it. The only thing that occasionally bugs me is how the units can vary pretty dramatically in terms of updates and furniture quality, so you might want to check recent photos if that stuff matters to you. But honestly, when you’re sitting on that balcony watching the Friday night fireworks from Hilton Hawaiian Village, or catching the weekend canoe races from your own private perch, those minor details fade pretty quickly. It’s not the fanciest place you’ll ever stay, but there’s something about being up on the 25th floor with that balcony that makes you feel like you’ve got your own little slice of Honolulu figured out.
