Hotel Description

You know what? Marine Surf Waikiki is one of those places that just gets it right without trying too hard. I mean, it’s not trying to be the fanciest hotel on the strip, but honestly, that’s exactly why it works. The moment you walk in, there’s this laid-back vibe that feels authentically Hawaiian rather than the polished resort experience you get at some of the bigger properties.

The location is actually pretty sweet – you’re close enough to the main Waikiki action that you can easily walk to the beach or grab dinner at Duke’s, but far enough from Kalakaua Avenue that you won’t hear the tour buses rumbling by at 6 AM. I’ve stayed here a few times now, and what keeps bringing me back is how the staff remembers you. Last time, the front desk guy – I think his name was Keoni – remembered I liked the rooms facing away from the street for the quieter mornings. It’s those little touches, you know? The rooms themselves are clean and comfortable, nothing fancy but they’ve got everything you actually need. The AC works well (crucial in Waikiki humidity), the shower has decent water pressure, and there’s enough space to spread out your beach gear without tripping over everything.

What I really appreciate is that this place attracts travelers who are here to actually experience Hawaii, not just Instagram it. You’ll find people trading snorkeling tips in the lobby or comparing notes about the best plate lunch spots – I actually discovered Giovanni’s truck because of a conversation I overheard by the elevators. The pool area gets some afternoon sun but isn’t a scene, which is perfect if you want to decompress after a morning at Hanauma Bay. Parking can be a bit tight (welcome to Waikiki), but they’ve got a deal worked out that won’t totally break your budget. I’ll be real with you – if you’re expecting a spa, room service, or turndown chocolates, this isn’t your spot. But if you want a solid base camp for exploring the island with people who know the difference between tourist traps and the real deal, Marine Surf Waikiki delivers. The 7.7 rating feels about right – it’s not perfect, but it’s genuinely good at what it does.

  • Maldo from United States (8/10)

It is located on the 20th floor. Great views. Cutains help for daytime naps 😴. Noise at night from the live music is not too bad. Amazing food court right next to building. Please check out Betty’s Burgers it’s the best bang for your buck in Waikiki. The room was comfortable and cozy. Great price for location. Everything within walking distance. I would recommend renting a car for a day or two to get around the island. If you plan to snorkel, get to the location early before the sand gets kicked up. Bring your own toiletries. They have towels and an iron to use in your room.

Convenient location in Waikiki, perfect size for 1-2 travelers and I loved that it was keyfob entrance at night so that only residents could access the building!
