Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of vacation rentals over the years, but this place in South Kihei really hit the sweet spot. The Maui Banyan H311 sits right in the heart of everything you actually want to be near – and I mean that three-minute beach walk claim is legit. I timed it because, well, I’m that person, and it was actually closer to two and a half minutes at a normal pace to reach the sand at Kamaole Beach Park II. You know what’s great about that particular stretch? It’s got those big old kiawe trees for shade, and the snorkeling on the north end is honestly some of the best easily accessible reef on this side of the island.

The condo itself feels like someone’s actual home rather than a sterile rental unit – there’s something refreshing about that. The one bedroom setup works perfectly for couples, though I could see families with older kids making it work since that living area is pretty spacious. Both bathrooms are genuinely useful (not one of those setups where the second “bath” is basically a closet with a toilet), and honestly, having two full bathrooms in a vacation rental is kind of a game changer when you’re dealing with sandy feet and post-beach showers. The kitchen’s got everything you need if you’re planning to cook – which you probably should at least a few nights because the Foodland is literally across the street, and those Maui grocery prices add up fast when you’re eating out every meal.

What really sold me on this spot was how it sits in the Maui Banyan complex. The grounds are mature and well-maintained without feeling overly manicured, and there’s this nice pool area that doesn’t get crazy crowded like some of the bigger resorts down the road. Parking was never an issue, which – trust me – is not something you can take for granted in Kihei, especially during whale season when everyone and their cousin is trying to get to the beach. The location puts you within walking distance of decent food options too. That little strip mall with Coconut’s Fish Cafe is maybe five minutes on foot, and if you’re willing to walk ten minutes south, you’ll hit some of the better local spots that most tourists miss entirely. I mean, you’re not exactly in a quiet residential neighborhood – South Kihei Road has its share of traffic – but the trade-off for being able to walk everywhere is totally worth it. The unit stays surprisingly quiet despite being so central, probably because the Banyan complex is set back from the main drag just enough to buffer most of the road noise.

  Proximity to the beach was incredible! The condo was very nice, and the kitchen was well-equipped and had high-end appliances. If you don't feel like cooking, there were also so many restaurants nearby. Great location for exploring Wailea, Road to Hana, Paia, etc.

  Had a wonderful stay at Tranquil Turtle Retreat! Amazing location in the heart of Kihei and the space was super clean and well-appointed! Loved the little touches to make it feel like home with everything you could possibly need including beach equipment (chairs, snorkel gear, beach towels, etc.) and a well stocked kitchen with anything you could possibly need. Loved the little welcome chocolates as well! Anna was also so gracious to acommodate a late check-out when our flight was delayed a couple hours, saving us from having to hang at the airport longer than necessary. 10/10 would stay here again!
