When I pulled up, I was relieved to see they actually have free parking right on site, which is honestly a bigger deal than you might think in this part of Maui.

I mean, you can walk to some seriously beautiful beaches, and the whole South Maui coastline is right there. The trade winds hit this spot just right, so even on warmer days, there’s usually a decent breeze. Couples seem to get this location thing figured out pretty quickly (they rate it 9.0, which makes sense when you see how close everything is).

What You’re Actually Getting

The room setup here is more like a vacation rental than a traditional hotel — think condo-style accommodations where you’ve got space to spread out. Each unit comes with a kitchen, which honestly saves you a fortune when you’re dealing with Maui restaurant prices. The furnishings are comfortable without being fancy, and most units have lanais where you can actually sit outside with your morning coffee. It’s the kind of place where you can cook breakfast, then head out for the day without feeling like you’re missing out on hotel amenities.

Getting Around and Beach Access

Here’s something I really appreciated — you’re within walking distance of several beaches, including some of the better snorkeling spots on the island. Wailea Beach is close enough that you don’t need to drive, and if you want to explore further south toward Makena, it’s just a few minutes by car. The property sits on the main road, so getting to Kihei town for groceries or casual dining is straightforward. Actually, being on South Kihei Road means you’re connected to pretty much everywhere you’d want to go on this side of the island.

The thing about Maui Banyan is that it delivers exactly what it promises — a comfortable base in an excellent location without the resort markup.   It's like a resort property in a nice area, with several dining options nearby and close to the beach. There's quite a few parking in the property. The room we got is near the entrance of the property, so a short walk back from parking area. The room is spacious and clean on the street level. I'd say pretty well equipped with a nice resort vibe. We also got a small kitchenette which was quite nice. There seems to be quite a few facilities like pools in the property but we didn't use it cause we wanted to explore the island.

  Beach in walking distance. Very nice room with a balkony. View to the green garden. Very quiet area in the back of the resort. Great for a beach holiday! Parking space included. Nice location at the south coast of Maui to do day trips in the surroundings (e.g. Haleakala National Park). It was one of the nicest stays we had during our Hawai'i vacation.
