Hotel Description
You know what really caught me off guard about the Maui Beach House B & B? It’s one of those places that doesn’t try to be fancy, but somehow that’s exactly what makes it work. I mean, with a name like that, you’re expecting something pretty straightforward, and honestly – that’s what you get, but in the best possible way.
The whole vibe here is like staying at your cool aunt’s beach house, if your aunt happened to have really good taste and actually knew how to run a proper B&B. The hosts clearly get that people come to Maui to experience the island, not to hide away in some sterile resort room. You’ll find yourself chatting with other guests over coffee in the morning (and the coffee is actually decent, which isn’t always a given at smaller places like this), getting real recommendations about which beaches to hit when the trade winds pick up or where to grab the best plate lunch without paying tourist prices. The kind of intel you can’t get from a guidebook, you know?
What I really appreciated was how they handle the little things that can make or break a stay. The rooms aren’t huge – this is a 3-star place, so set your expectations accordingly – but they’re thoughtfully set up with everything you actually need. Good water pressure in the shower (crucial after a day of sand and salt), blackout curtains that actually block the early morning sun, and thank god, real air conditioning that works quietly. I’ve stayed at places where the AC sounds like a jet engine all night. The WiFi held up fine for checking emails and posting photos, though if you’re planning to work remotely with video calls, maybe test it first – island internet can be, well, island internet.
Location-wise, you’re not right on the beach, but honestly, that works in your favor. You avoid the constant stream of day-trippers and resort crowds, but you can still walk to some really solid spots without needing to drive everywhere. Parking is straightforward too, which anyone who’s driven around Maui during peak season will tell you is not something to take for granted. The neighborhood has that authentic residential feel – you’ll hear roosters in the morning (this is Hawaii, after all) and maybe some local kids playing in the distance, but it settles down nicely in the evenings.
The 8.1 rating makes total sense to me. This isn’t the kind of place that’s going to blow your mind with luxury touches or Instagram-worthy amenities, but it delivers exactly what it promises without any unpleasant surprises. If you’re the type of traveler who wants to spend your days exploring the island and just needs a comfortable, well-run place to crash at night, you’ll be happy here. Plus, the hosts actually live locally and know their stuff – they’ll steer you toward the good hiking trails and away from the tourist traps, which honestly might be worth the price of admission alone.
Hawaii hotels range from charming beachfront bungalows in traditional Polynesian style to elegant oceanfront luxury resorts and modern accommodations with panoramic Pacific views.

Beautiful place and very friendly staff. Clean and the beach is literally across the street. Beautiful.

Hosts were very responsive. The A/C was out while we were there, but the hosts already had someone attending to it before we even notified them.

Like being across the street to a small beach. It felt private and exclusive. The property was beautiful.

The location. Closeness to the Beach. It was easy to find our way around. Having private transportation made it easy to travel to places and explore.

We ended up having to book another hotel and we stayed at the Westin because they never sent we the welcome package, then they didn’t email how to get into the room until 6:44 pm! By that time I had secured our Hotel room
at the Westin. I even actually called her at 12:00 noon regarding I haven’t received anything and she said she would text me when the room was ready and the welcome package. Neither came at 4:00pm so we had no choice but book somewhere else.
We will never book again with Maui Beach Ocean rentals and I should be receiving a credit back on my credit card.
I’m very unhappy with the entire process and for any one out there thinking of booking at Maui Ocean rentals….
I would run not walk from this place.Pamela from Australia (1/10)
