You’re right in the heart of Kihei, which puts you walking distance from some of the island’s best beaches without the Wailea price tags. Kamaole Beach Parks are literally across the street, and trust me, these aren’t your typical hotel beaches — they’re where locals actually hang out. The shopping and dining scene along this strip is fantastic too. You’ve got everything from food trucks serving incredible garlic shrimp to upscale restaurants, all within a few minutes’ walk.

The Rooms

Here’s where the Maui Coast Hotel really surprised me — the beds are incredibly comfortable, and apparently I’m not the only one who thinks so since they’re highly rated for this specifically. The rooms have that clean, updated feel without trying too hard to be trendy. Most importantly, they’re actually functional for a beach vacation — plenty of space to spread out your gear, good lighting, and air conditioning that works (which matters more than you’d think in Kihei). The private parking is clutch too, especially since finding parking in this area can be a real headache during peak season.

The Experience

What I love about staying here is how it puts you right in the middle of authentic Maui life rather than isolating you in some resort bubble. You’ll find yourself grabbing coffee at local spots, chatting with residents at the beach, and discovering those hidden gems that make a trip memorable. The hotel strikes this perfect balance — comfortable enough that you sleep well and have everything you need, but not so insulated that you miss out on the real island experience. It’s the kind of place where you spend your days exploring and your evenings relaxing by the pool with a drink from the nearby ABC Store.
