Hotel Description
You know what surprised me most about Maui Kamaole A110? It’s actually one of those places that manages to feel like a proper Hawaiian getaway without all the resort chaos – and honestly, that’s harder to find on Maui than you’d think.
This condo sits right in the heart of Kihei, which I mean, some people write off as too touristy, but they’re missing the point. Yeah, there are condos everywhere, but Maui Kamaole is tucked back from the main South Kihei Road noise in a way that actually works. You’ll hear the ocean more than traffic, especially if you snag one of the units facing Kamaole Beach Park III (locals just call it Kam III). The property itself has this sort of old-school Hawaiian condo vibe – not fancy-schmancy like some of the newer Wailea places, but solid and comfortable in that “your friend’s family has owned this place forever” kind of way. The pool area gets busy around 2 PM when everyone’s done with their morning beach time, but if you go early or after 5, it’s pretty peaceful.
What I really appreciate is how walkable everything is from here. Kam III beach is literally across the street – no shuttle, no long trek through a massive resort property. Just grab your gear and go. The beach itself is perfect for families, with that gentle slope into the water and usually decent waves for boogie boarding without being scary. Plus, and this is key, parking at the beach is actually manageable since you’re not driving there. The nearby restaurants are the real deal too – not just hotel food. Coconut’s Fish Cafe is maybe a 10-minute walk if you want proper fish tacos, and Foodland is close enough for grocery runs without needing to plan your whole day around it. I’ve stayed during both shoulder season and peak winter months, and honestly, the winter crowds don’t impact this spot as much as some other areas because you’re not dependent on one crowded beach or restaurant – there are options within walking distance.
The unit itself (A110 specifically) feels lived-in rather than sterile, which works for me. The kitchen has everything you actually need, not just the bare minimum, and the lanai catches those trade winds perfectly in the late afternoon. Sure, the decor isn’t going to win any design awards – think comfortable island furniture that’s seen some sun – but after a day at the beach, you just want a place that feels like home. Check-in was smooth, parking is included (which saves you like $25 a night compared to some places), and the property management actually responds when you need something. It’s got that 4-star sweet spot where things work properly without the stuffiness of a high-end resort. If you’re looking for a base to explore Maui rather than a place to hole up and never leave, this spot delivers.
