Maui Sunset B402 Overview
First Impressions
When I first pulled up to Maui Sunset B402, I’ll be honest — it’s not the flashiest place you’ll see along South Kihei Road. But that’s actually part of its charm. This three-star condo sits right in the heart of Kihei, and what it lacks in fancy lobby marble, it makes up for with that authentic Hawaii vibe that so many resorts try to manufacture. The building has this relaxed, lived-in feel that immediately tells you this is where locals would actually stay if they were visiting from another island.
The Location Sweet Spot
You know what really sold me on this place? The location is just ridiculously good. I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from some of Kihei’s best beaches, and the parking situation — which can be a nightmare elsewhere in Maui — is completely sorted with their free on-site spots. The couples who stay here aren’t wrong to rave about it; there’s something romantic about being able to stroll to Kamaole Beach Park III for sunset without dealing with resort crowds or hunting for a parking meter.
The Space Itself
The room (well, it’s really more of a condo unit) surprised me with how functional everything was. The layout actually makes sense — you’ve got a proper living area that doesn’t feel cramped, and the lanai overlooks the property’s courtyard area. It’s not going to win any design awards, but honestly, when you’re spending most of your time on the beach or exploring the island, you just want a clean, comfortable base. The air conditioning works well too, which matters more than you’d think after a day hiking Haleakala.
What Makes It Work
Here’s the thing about staying in Kihei versus somewhere like Wailea or Ka’anapali — you’re right in the middle of real Maui life. There’s a Foodland grocery store about five minutes away, and you’re close enough to both the airport (maybe 20 minutes) and upcountry attractions without feeling like you’re constantly in transit. The property itself keeps things simple; there’s no fancy spa or multiple restaurants, but there is a decent pool area where you can actually find a chair without getting up at dawn to reserve one.
Why Guests Love It
After spending time here, I get why this place consistently gets good ratings from couples. It’s got that sweet spot of being affordable without feeling cheap, and the location really can’t be beat if you want to experience Maui beyond the resort bubble. You’re walking distance from great local spots like Coconut’s Fish Cafe and Three’s Bar & Grill, plus you can easily drive to Makena’s big beaches or head up to Haleakala for sunrise. The free parking alone probably saves you $25-30 a night compared to staying at the big resorts, and that money’s better spent on a good dinner or maybe that helicopter tour you’ve been debating.
Travelers should reserve a hotel in Hawaii at least two months ahead of their visit to ensure availability and secure better rates, especially during the peak winter season when the islands host numerous cultural festivals and outdoor activities.

Location to the town and proximity to the ocean was excellent. The balcony added another dimension to the living space and we used it all the time.
