Menehune Shores 309 Overview

You know what surprised me most about Menehune Shores 309? It’s actually one of those places that somehow manages to feel both tucked away and perfectly positioned at the same time. I mean, when you first pull up, you’re thinking “okay, this is nice” but it’s not until you’ve been there a day or two that you really get it. The whole property has this laid-back vibe that honestly feels more like staying at a friend’s well-appointed beach house than a typical hotel – which makes sense given that 4-star rating and that impressive 9.5 guest score.

The unit itself is what really won me over though. Everything’s been thought through by someone who actually understands how people want to live when they’re on vacation. The kitchen isn’t just for show – it’s got real counter space and decent appliances, so you can actually make breakfast without feeling like you’re playing Tetris with your coffee maker and toaster. And the lanai? Well, that’s where you’ll probably end up spending most of your time if you’re anything like me. There’s something about the way the trade winds hit this particular spot that just works. I found myself out there with my morning coffee way earlier than I’m usually functional, just watching the island wake up. The sound of the waves is constant but not overwhelming – more like background music you never want to turn off.

What I really appreciated was how quiet everything stays, even when the property’s full. The way the buildings are positioned, you get your privacy without feeling isolated. Parking was surprisingly hassle-free too (and trust me, that’s not always a given around here). The whole check-in process was refreshingly straightforward – none of that overly complicated resort rigmarole where they try to sell you seventeen different activity packages before you’ve even seen your room. The staff clearly knows the area well and can point you toward the local spots that aren’t in every guidebook. Actually, they steered me toward this little coffee place about ten minutes away that I never would have found otherwise. It’s those kinds of insider tips that make a stay memorable. Honestly, by the time I was packing up to leave, I was already thinking about when I could come back – and for someone who usually likes to try new places every trip, that’s saying something.

    Conveniently located and very central. Really appreciated all of the amenities the apartment had, made life easy!

    We were super impressed with Michelle at the agents office where you pick up the keys. A pure positive energy felt from her!
    The building seemed pretty busy but the elevators are fast, we don't like waiting for slow elevators so that was a plus.
    We are truly fortunate and feel a bit of shame that we were having such a wonderful time while so many on the island suffer from their great loss while facing an uncertain future. Wishing nothing but the best for all the strong and resilient Mauians🙏🏼

    A lot to like about the Menehune property:
    * Plenty of parking.
    * A nice-sized pool, so it never felt over-crowded.
    * I loved that the enclosed “fish pond” along the beach makes it very safe to swim in the ocean.
    * The on-site restaurant was convenient for times when I didn’t feel like cooking or going out.

    Unit 309 is well stocked with kitchen supplies (including a few basic spices, plastic wrap and foil) and nice appliances.
    There are ample beach supplies (beach chairs, snorkel gear, grass mats and a boogie board, beach towels), etc.
    It was very clean. The furnishings are nice, with the exception of two dining chairs that were a bit rickety.
    I never figured out how to turn on the ceiling fans, and later realized they probably are controlled by remote control, in addition to the wall switches (my bad).
    There are wall-mounted air-conditioning “split” units in each bedroom and the living room. Each has its own controller, so you can adjust each room based on personal preferences. This was a nice amenity, since many Hawaiian properties do not have AC.

    accurate photos of place, nice view of the bay, great access to swimming (pool and ocean), responsive management company when we called in a couple of minor issues.

    The views, the location, the friendly property management staff, the amenities.
