Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to this Kihei condo, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best surprises come in unassuming packages. The Ocean-View Kihei Condo sits right in the heart of South Kihei, and while it’s not going to win any architectural awards, it’s got that laid-back Maui vibe down pat. The pool area is actually where this place shines – it’s one of those kidney-shaped deals from the ’80s that somehow still feels perfect for the setting. I mean, you’re literally a few minutes’ walk from some of Kihei’s best beach spots, and honestly, after spending the morning at Kamaole Beach Park III (which locals just call Kam 3), coming back to take a dip in your own pool feels pretty luxurious.
The condo itself has that slightly dated Hawaiian decor that somehow works – think rattan furniture and tropical prints that could use updating but don’t really need it. What really sold me was stepping onto that lanai in the morning with my coffee. The ocean view isn’t dramatic or sweeping, but it’s there, peeking between the palm trees and neighboring buildings, especially from the upper floors. You can actually hear the waves if you listen for them, which is more than I can say for a lot of places that claim ocean proximity. The kitchen’s functional enough if you want to prep some poke from Foodland (there’s one just down South Kihei Road), and the living area has that breezy cross-ventilation thing going on that means you won’t always need the AC cranked up. Parking was surprisingly hassle-free – none of that circling-the-block nonsense you get at some Maui properties.
What really makes this place work is the location, and I don’t mean that in the generic travel brochure way. You’re positioned perfectly between the quieter north end of Kihei and the livelier Wailea area to the south. Want a low-key morning? Walk north toward the Kihei Boat Ramp area. Feeling social? Head south toward the shops and restaurants near the Maui Sunset condos. The staff here seems to actually live on the island (not always a given), so they’ll point you toward the good stuff – like how Wednesday mornings are perfect for hitting up the farmers market without the crowds, or which food trucks to hit on Oahu Street. It’s not fancy, and the 8.2 rating feels about right – solid, reliable, and way more charming than it has any right to be for the price point. If you’re the type who needs marble countertops and a spa, look elsewhere. But if you want a genuine slice of old-school Kihei life with modern enough amenities and that pool to cool off in after beach days, this place delivers exactly what it promises.

The place was decorated beautifully yet simple, with an aloha vibe. Wonderful views as well and we liked that they had a small selection of spices to cook with.

The window to our particular unit allowed wonderful views of the ocean and sunset. Television was excellent. Spacious. Appealing art hung on the walls in bedrooms. Ceiling fans helped to circulate air. Appliances such as dishwasher (although small), clothes washer, coffee maker, refrigerator were very good. Air conditioner worked well although was not required most of the time. Plenty of dishes, cooking utensils etc.
