Hotel Description
Honestly, when I first pulled up to this Oceanview condo in Kailua-Kona, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place – but you know what really got me? That private balcony actually delivers on the ocean views, and I mean *really* delivers. You’re not squinting through palm trees or craning your neck around some other building. It’s just you, your morning coffee, and this gorgeous stretch of coastline that changes colors throughout the day.
The condo itself has that lived-in Hawaii vibe that I actually prefer over those sterile resort rooms. Sure, the kitchen could use a few more decent knives and the shower pressure isn’t going to blow you away, but there’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that feels like a real person’s place rather than a hotel committee’s idea of tropical luxury. The furnishings are comfortable – that kind of casual island style where you can actually put your sandy feet up without worrying about it. And the AC works great, which honestly matters more than people admit when you’re dealing with that afternoon Kona heat.
What really makes this spot work is the location. You’re close enough to walk to some solid local spots (there’s this little poke place about ten minutes down that locals actually go to), but far enough from the main tourist strip that you’re not dealing with cruise ship crowds wandering past your balcony. The parking situation is straightforward – no hunting for spots or paying extra fees, which is honestly a relief if you’ve ever tried to park near the pier during busy season. I spent most evenings out there on the balcony just watching the sunset paint the water different shades of orange and pink, and you can actually hear the waves without the constant hum of resort activity. The 8.4 rating makes total sense to me – it’s not perfect, but it gets the important stuff right and gives you that authentic Hawaii experience without breaking the bank or feeling like you’re staying in someone’s vacation rental afterthought.
Many travelers prefer to book apartments in Hawaii through local agencies that offer personalized recommendations and insider knowledge about the best locations for exploring the islands’ pristine beaches and hidden gems.

Great location! Easy to walk into town or catch the shuttle. Can snorkel right off the property. Great place to watch sunsets. Well-kept grounds. Unit clean, had all amenities and extra. Loved my stay. Would highly recommend!

Very spacious and fully-equipped condo, with anything from large kitchen and washer-dryer to nice lanai to enjoy breakfast and evenings, some table games and lots of beach gear.Location convenient for exploring Big Island. Owner very attentive and responsive.

It was cute and clean. Love the view from the balcony and it felt like it had the comfort of being at home. You can go out past the pool that has a view of the ocean and grill and lounge right on the water-amazing view! Loved having a washer and dryer, and all the things we could think to need. Lots of swimming stuff including chairs, pool noodles, snorkels and boogie boards. Some condiments, cleaning items and laundry soap and dryer sheets. Property owners were extremely helpful and quick to respond. It was just a lovely visit and I’d def stay here again!

The location was great; it was close to everything. Also the view from my balcony was beautiful and the grounds were filled with beautifully maintained tropical flowers and shrubs. 🙂

So much to offer: rocky, black lava rocks sitting area, local fruits, Asian mongooses, Mourning geckos, fully stocked kitchen with some spices, swim gear, mini-ice chest, beach blankets. Few things would make this Kona Maka area a “will-rent and return” is EV charging plug/station (nice to have while we walk around and sleep,) hamper for laundry and sand castle beach toys to borrow. The bathtub or restroom is working well and there’s even old sunscreen and the drain is excellent but older. If this unit can be renovated for a new shower area with HVAC instead of window unit it would be less noisy while we sleep, it would be Excellent. The entrance gate panel is located on the right and we often need the front passenger side (me,) to get out and punch in the code. The closest parking to Building 3 condo 106 is next to the yellow leaves specked with green hedges a d up the path. Booking.com only let me attach 4 pictures. Otherwise, a very well thought out rental close to most attractions and there is no bad view on the Big Island.

The location was great however, it was not Oceanview as the name would suggest. However, it is Hawaii and Hawaii is beautiful.
