Look, I’ll be straight with you about the OUTRIGGER Waikiki Beachcomber – it’s one of those hotels that just gets Waikiki right. You know how some places try too hard to be fancy and end up feeling stuffy? This isn’t that. When you walk into the lobby, there’s this relaxed energy that actually matches the vibe of the neighborhood, which honestly can be pretty rare in touristy Waikiki. I mean, you’re literally steps from the beach here – like, grab your coffee and you’re on the sand in two minutes – but you’re also right in the thick of everything without being stuck in some massive resort bubble.

What really won me over was how the staff seemed to know their stuff about the island, not just the hotel script. The front desk guy told me about this little poke spot down Lewers Street that I never would’ve found otherwise, and honestly, it ended up being one of my favorite meals. The rooms are solid – nothing revolutionary, but clean, comfortable, and the AC actually works (you’d be surprised how many places mess that up). I stayed on the eighth floor and could hear a bit of street noise from Kalakaua Avenue, but honestly? That’s just Waikiki. You’re trading perfect silence for being in the heart of everything, and I think it’s worth it. The shower pressure was surprisingly good too, which matters more than people admit after a day of swimming and hiking.

Here’s what I really appreciated – they didn’t try to keep you trapped in the hotel spending money on overpriced everything. Sure, they’ve got their own restaurants and bars, but they’re not pushy about it. You can easily walk to Duke’s or grab malasadas from Leonard’s truck when it parks nearby, or hit up the ABC Store across the street for beach gear you inevitably forgot. The pool area is nice enough for a quick dip, though let’s be real – you’re probably going to spend most of your time at the actual beach. Parking will cost you (this is Waikiki, after all), but the valet guys are quick and friendly. Check-in was smooth even during what looked like a pretty busy afternoon, and they actually had our room ready early. With an 8.6 rating, you’re getting exactly what you’d expect from a solid four-star spot – nothing’s going to blow your mind, but nothing’s going to disappoint you either. It’s the kind of place where you can feel comfortable whether you’re planning to surf at dawn or bar-hop until late, and sometimes that versatility is exactly what you need for a Waikiki stay.

  The location of the hotel is amazing, right on the shopping strip and minutes walk to the Waikiki beach. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, we had a double for a family of two adults and two kids, balcony with partial sea view.
  The pool area is nice but gets very busy.
  The hotel offered complimentary sunrise yoga by the pool which was a lovely experience.
  Laundry room was an added bonus.
  The hotel shop was fully stocked with all sorts of necessities.
  Would definitely recommend staying here!
  A note of appreciation for the housekeeper in charge of our floor, Zhi Yi, for her hospitality, made our stay memorable!
