Hotel Description

You know what caught me off guard about Pahoa Paradise Palms? The name actually undersells it. I mean, when you see “Paradise Palms” you’re probably expecting some cheesy resort vibes, but this place is honestly way more authentic than that. It’s tucked into Pahoa in a way that feels like you’re staying in someone’s really well-designed neighborhood rather than some tourist bubble.

The whole setup is refreshingly low-key for a 3-star spot – and I say that as someone who’s stayed in plenty of places that try way too hard. Check-in was this easy, conversational thing where the staff actually seemed to know the area (like, really know it, not just the standard script about nearby attractions). They pointed me toward this little coffee spot down the road that I never would’ve found otherwise, and honestly, that kind of local insight is worth its weight in gold when you’re exploring somewhere like Pahoa. The rooms have this lived-in comfort that’s hard to fake – good linens that are clearly well-maintained, and everything’s clean without feeling sterile. I actually slept better than I expected, which is saying something because I’m usually pretty sensitive to new places.

What really makes this spot work is how it sits in the community. Mornings here have this gentle rhythm where you can hear people going about their day, but it never gets chaotic or touristy-loud. The parking situation is straightforward (trust me, that matters more than you think in some parts of the Big Island), and you’re close enough to walk around Pahoa’s main strip without feeling like you’re in the thick of everything. I loved being able to grab dinner somewhere local and just stroll back without having to deal with driving after a long day of exploring. The 9.5 rating makes total sense once you spend a night or two here – it’s not trying to be something it’s not, but what it does, it does really well. If you’re the type who wants to experience a real slice of Hawaiian life rather than just another pretty hotel room, this place gets it right.

The concierge service in Hawaii can arrange exclusive volcano helicopter tours, secure reservations at oceanfront luau restaurants, and organize personalized snorkeling adventures with marine biologists.

The ambience of the place was top-star, especially the semi outdoor shower was amazing and unique. Best recommendations from our side and should we come back to the Big we come here again.

The host showed a nice farm Papaya across the street from home.Dragon fruit. Pineapple.Banana. That was so cool. They even gave us bananas that we’ve never had before. It was very sweet. There’s a filter for drinking water, a coffee machine, and a filter. There was even coffee beans, so I enjoyed Kona coffee at home.

Perfect setting, with beaches and a hot spring nearby. The apt. was very private and had a tropical style, with access to a lawn for outside dinning or star gazing. The hosts were fantastic, very helpful.
