Hotel Description
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Palms at Wailea 705 – I mean, it’s technically a 3-star place, but you know what? Sometimes the ratings don’t tell the whole story. The moment I walked into this unit, I could tell someone had put some serious thought into the renovation. The split AC system was actually a game-changer (and trust me, you’ll appreciate this in Wailea’s afternoon heat), with individual controls that let you cool down the bedroom while keeping the living area comfortable.
What really got me was how they’d managed to capture that authentic Hawaiian vibe without going overboard with the touristy stuff. The kitchen renovation was particularly well done – I’m talking about real countertops and appliances that actually work, not the half-broken coffee maker situation you sometimes get in vacation rentals. The living space flows naturally, and there’s this great lanai where I’d sit with my morning coffee, watching the early golfers head out to the nearby courses. You’re close enough to hear the ocean if you really listen, but far enough from the main Wailea resort strip that you don’t get the constant buzz of tour buses and wedding parties.
The location is sort of perfect if you know Wailea at all – you’re literally minutes from some of the best beaches on the island (Wailea Beach and Ulua Beach are both easy walks), but you’re not paying those insane Grand Wailea or Fairmont prices. Parking was never an issue, which honestly surprised me because I’d heard horror stories about other places in the area. The complex itself feels more like a residential neighborhood than a typical tourist spot, so you get that local feel while still having access to everything. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if you’re the type who wants a comfortable home base for exploring rather than a resort where you’re trapped on property. Just remember to stock up on groceries at the Safeway in Kihei on your way in – the nearby options are pretty limited and pricey.
