Paradise greenland Overview
First Impressions
Honestly, when I first pulled up to Paradise greenland on Pikake Road, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The name had me picturing something tropical, but this three-star spot in Pahoa has its own unique charm that’s hard to pin down. It’s not flashy or polished — more like that comfortable place where you can actually relax without feeling like you need to dress up for the lobby. The atmosphere here strikes a nice balance between casual and welcoming, making it an ideal choice for travelers seeking authenticity.
Location & Getting Around
You know what’s great about staying here? The parking situation is actually sorted out for you — free private spots right on site, which honestly saves you from the headache of hunting around Pahoa for somewhere to leave your car. The location works especially well if you’re planning a romantic getaway; I noticed quite a few couples seemed really content here, and I get why. There’s something about being tucked away on this quiet road that makes it feel like your own little retreat, away from the usual tourist crowds you’ll find closer to the main attractions. The proximity to local attractions adds significant value to your stay.
The Room Experience
My room was simple but clean — nothing fancy, but everything worked the way it should. The beds are comfortable enough, and I mean, after a day of exploring the Big Island, that’s really what matters most. The windows let in good natural light, and you can actually hear the sounds of the area without feeling like you’re right on top of a busy street. It’s the kind of place where you can spread out your stuff without worrying about making a mess. The straightforward design keeps the focus on comfort and functionality.
What Makes It Work
I think what surprised me most was how peaceful it felt here. Pahoa itself has this laid-back, slightly bohemian vibe — it’s not your typical Hawaiian resort town, which actually makes it more interesting in my opinion. You’re close enough to check out the lava viewing areas and Lava Tree State Monument without dealing with the chaos of staying right in the thick of things. The staff keeps things running smoothly without being overly formal about it, which fits the whole relaxed atmosphere perfectly. This balance creates an environment where guests can truly unwind.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t going to be the fanciest place you’ve ever stayed, but sometimes that’s exactly what you want. The couples who end up here seem to really appreciate having a quiet base where they can plan their Big Island adventures without breaking the bank. You get reliable basics — good parking, clean rooms, and a location that puts you in an authentic part of Hawaii rather than some sanitized resort bubble. If you’re the type who values genuine local character over marble lobbies and room service, Paradise greenland delivers on that front. The overall experience reflects a commitment to honest hospitality.

Everything provided for comfortable stay. Car can be parked inside fence, next to house. One big water bottle provided + starbucks capsules for coffee. TV with some DVD movies. Great location for visiting volcano park. Great sound at evenings from small frogs (coqui) – meditative 🙂

The place was really clean and appeared to be newly completed. Loved the black out drapes. The bed was super comfortable. When one person moved, the other didn’t feel it.

Loved the location and the jungle sounds at night. An easy access to all the places we wanted to explore and not far from the town's restaurants and shopping. The room was clean and comfortable and the host was friendly.

It was clean and bigger than expected. cute little guest house behind the owners own home. They had all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay. There was no air conditioning but they had 2 ceiling fans in the room.

It is a very nice and clean apartment in the middle of nowhere 🙈 the bed is very big and comfy and there were a lot of towels, toilet paper and stuff. We felt very comfortable in the apartment. There was free coffee!

Everything.
Embarrassingly Moe had to personally pick me up because I cant find anything right under my nose including his place. I tip my hat to him and his supreme hospitality and kindness. The only one shortcoming/ fault is that the area is densly populated with feral dogs which are part/parcel with the island's just like the feral cat's which you can't get around as they're a staple of the island's..The latter shouldn't/ doesn't detract from my otherwise favorable review…..Yuhuan from United States (4/10)
The room is really nice
