Hotel Description
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to PonoMana Oasis’s Koi Cottage – I mean, it’s technically a 3-star place, but honestly, that rating system feels pretty outdated when you experience what they’ve actually created here. The moment you walk through the entrance, there’s this immediate sense of calm that just hits you. Maybe it’s the sound of actual water features (not just decorative ones), or the way they’ve managed to create these little pockets of privacy even though you’re sharing the space with other guests.
The cottage itself has this authentic island vibe that doesn’t feel forced or touristy – and trust me, I’ve stayed at places that try way too hard with the whole “tropical paradise” thing. Here, it’s more subtle. The rooms have these gorgeous wooden accents that actually look like they belong, not like someone just slapped bamboo wallpaper everywhere. And the koi ponds (obviously) are scattered throughout the property in spots where you’ll stumble across them when you’re wandering around, which I found myself doing a lot more than usual. There’s something really soothing about hearing that gentle water movement, especially in the evenings when things quiet down. The staff clearly knows their stuff too – they’re not just reciting scripts, they actually seem to live here and can point you toward the good local spots that aren’t overrun with tour buses.
What really sets this place apart though is how it manages to feel both relaxing and engaging at the same time. I’ve stayed at resorts where you basically fall into a coma by the pool, which is fine sometimes, but this felt more… alive, I guess? The grounds are designed so you can find your quiet corner when you need it, but there’s also this gentle energy from the other guests who seem to get what this place is about. Check-in was smooth (they actually remembered my name without looking at their computer every time), and parking was never an issue – which sounds boring but you know how stressful that can be at some places. The 9.3 rating makes total sense once you’re there for a day or two. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place on the island, but what it does, it does really, really well. If you’re looking for somewhere that feels like a genuine retreat without the pretentious spa-resort atmosphere, this is your spot.

Loved the location, it was a super calming place to rest after a day on the island. Definitely recommend a car because you will need to drive places.
Marco from Germany (9/10)
The host has put a lot of dedication into the design of this cottage. Everything is well thought out and prepared with love. The property is a little off the beaten track, so you can relax after a busy day.
