The kitchen had proper knives (you’d be surprised how rare that is), the shower had decent water pressure, and honestly, the bed was way more comfortable than I expected. There’s this little lanai that faces west, and if you time it right, the sunset views are pretty spectacular. I mean, you’re not getting ocean views or anything dramatic, but there’s something peaceful about watching the light fade while you’re sipping your morning coffee – or evening beer, no judgment here.

What really sold me on this place was the location knowledge the owners shared. They didn’t just hand me a generic tourist map; they actually sat down and marked up spots where locals eat, which beaches are less crowded on weekends, and – this was clutch – where to park downtown without getting a ticket.   Diana was very helpful and hospitable. The location was excellent, close to shopping and restaurants, and only minutes from the beach and the historic part of Hilo. The room was very clean and well equipped and it was in a safe area.
