Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked into the Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Waikiki, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star property in one of the world’s priciest beach destinations. But you know what? This place actually surprised me in the best way possible.

The thing about Waikiki is that you’re paying premium prices just to be in the neighborhood, so finding a hotel that gives you solid value without cutting corners where it matters – well, that’s harder than you’d think. The Ramada Plaza gets this balance right. Sure, it’s not going to wow you with marble lobbies or infinity pools, but the rooms are clean and comfortable (I mean, really comfortable – not that fake “luxury” comfortable that some places try to sell you), and honestly, you’re probably going to spend most of your time on the beach anyway. The staff here actually seems to care, which sounds basic but trust me, after staying at some of the bigger chain hotels in the area where you feel like just another credit card, it makes a difference.

What I really appreciated was how the hotel sits in that sweet spot where you’re close enough to all the Waikiki action – the beach is literally a few minutes’ walk, and you can easily get to all the shops and restaurants along Kalakaua Avenue – but you’re not dealing with the constant noise and chaos of being right in the thick of it. I could actually sleep with the windows open some nights, which is saying something for this area. The 8.0 rating makes total sense to me because while it’s not trying to be the fanciest place on the strip, it delivers on what matters most: a good night’s sleep, helpful service, and that “I’m really in Hawaii” feeling without the sticker shock. The pool area is actually pretty nice too – nothing Instagram-worthy, but perfect for an afternoon break from the sand and salt. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I was planning to spend my days exploring the island rather than lounging around the hotel property all day.

Travelers should reserve a hotel in Hawaii at least two months ahead of their visit to ensure availability and secure better rates, especially during the peak winter season when the islands host numerous cultural festivals and outdoor activities.

  Windows don’t open which is a shame..book balcony for +$40/nite more.for fresher air,..comfy bed, good inroom coffee,very clean,microwave,fridge,air con,good sized TV,amazing phillipino staff…bit dated but you aren’t paying big bux, like most accoms in Hawaii.

  It’s location near to Waikīkī town and easy to catch the hop on hop off trolley & busses for sightseeing. Unit had ironing board which was useful for business trip.
