The location is actually perfect if you want to feel like you’re in the heart of Honolulu without being stuck in the Waikiki tourist bubble. I’m talking about real access to the city – you can walk to decent local spots for breakfast, and you’re not fighting through crowds of people in matching t-shirts just to grab coffee. The spa here is legitimately good too, not just some afterthought with a couple massage tables. I tried their lomi lomi treatment (yeah, I know, touristy of me) but the therapist actually knew what she was doing, and the whole experience felt authentic rather than like a hotel add-on service.

What really sold me on this place was the attention to small stuff that most hotels completely miss. The shower pressure is fantastic – and I mean the kind of pressure that actually wakes you up in the morning. The blackout curtains actually block light, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many five-star places can’t get this right. Check-in was smooth, maybe five minutes tops, and the front desk person gave me genuinely useful recommendations rather than just pointing me toward the nearest chain restaurants. Parking situation is pretty reasonable too, especially for downtown Honolulu where you usually pay through the nose just to leave your car somewhere overnight. The rooms themselves have this modern Hawaiian vibe that doesn’t feel forced – sort of understated elegance without all the generic tropical prints you see everywhere else. That 8.8 rating makes total sense once you stay here; it’s the kind of place that gets the fundamentals right while still feeling special. If you’re looking for a hotel that actually delivers on the five-star promise without the attitude or the inflated prices of some of the older properties, this is your spot.

  Excellent new hotel that just has everything you need/want. Free spa area to do hot and cold plunge/sauna and massage for extra charge. It’s just a well thought out design overall. Highly recommend it. And only one weird interaction with staff, but overall staff were 5star.
