Residence Inn by Marriott Maui Wailea Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Residence Inn by Marriott Maui Wailea, you immediately get that “this isn’t your typical hotel” feeling — and I mean that in the best way possible. The three-star property sits right in the heart of Wailea, which honestly feels like you’ve stumbled into one of Maui’s most coveted neighborhoods. The lobby has this relaxed, residential vibe that makes sense once you realize you’re basically checking into what feels more like a well-appointed apartment than a standard hotel room. It’s the kind of place where you can actually picture yourself living for a week or two, not just sleeping.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about the location — you’re on Wailea Ike Drive, which puts you within walking distance of some seriously gorgeous beaches without the chaos of the more touristy spots. Wailea Beach and Ulua Beach are both close enough that you won’t need to drive, and trust me, that matters when you’re dealing with Maui’s sometimes unpredictable traffic. The area has this upscale resort feel, but the Residence Inn manages to offer something more accessible. Couples seem to really get this location (they rate it 8.5), and I can see why — there’s something romantic about being tucked into this quieter part of the island while still having easy access to everything.
The Suites
What really sets this place apart is the suite setup — you’re getting a full kitchen, separate living area, and honestly, some of the most comfortable beds I’ve encountered on the island. The rooms feel spacious in a way that’s rare for Maui, where hotel rooms can sometimes feel cramped and overpriced. Having a kitchen means you can actually save money by not eating out for every single meal, which is smart considering how expensive dining can get in Wailea. The beds deserve their own mention though — guests consistently rave about the sleep quality, and after spending a few nights there, I totally get it.
Breakfast & Amenities
The American breakfast setup works well for families and anyone who wants a solid start to their day without the fuss. It’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s reliable and filling — exactly what you want before heading out for a day of beach time or exploring the island. The private parking is actually a bigger deal than you might think, especially in this area where parking can be a real headache at some of the fancier resorts nearby. You know what’s nice? Not having to worry about where you’re going to leave your rental car when you get back from dinner.
Why Guests Love It
The combination of space, location, and value really seems to hit the sweet spot for people visiting Maui. You’re getting that Wailea address and proximity to beautiful beaches, but in a more residential, less resort-heavy environment. The fact that recent guests rate the location so highly (8.4) tells you something — this isn’t just about being close to things, it’s about being in the right part of the island. For couples especially, there’s something appealing about having your own little apartment-style space where you can spread out, cook breakfast together, and feel like you’re actually living in Maui rather than just visiting.

Service and friendly staff
Esther from United States (9/10)
Breakfast was good and appreciated. Not having to buy an additional meal a day was good. However after staying at Residence Inn for 7 consecutive days the breakfast is too repetitive and not good after 3 days. I think it would be better to have more options and variety. In especially the way eggs are prepared, the eggs did not have salt and were scrambled every day. An omelet one day, scrambled the next, egg and tomato the following, etc, etc. Other than that the staff who help with breakfast are top notch! Veryy friendly and accommodating. Tables were cleaned immediately for the guests who would not clean after themselves.
