The kitchen setup is legit too, with enough counter space that you can actually prep some poke from Foodland (there’s one just a few blocks down on Keeaumoku) without feeling cramped. And honestly? That matters more than you think when hotel restaurant prices start adding up. The bed situation is comfortable – I’m talking real sleep, not that stiff hotel mattress nonsense that leaves you walking around like a robot the next day.

What really sold me on this place though is the location without the chaos. You’re right in the heart of everything – like, you can walk to the International Market Place in maybe eight minutes, hit up Duke’s or grab some malasadas from Leonard’s truck when it parks nearby – but you’re not dealing with the Kalakaua Avenue madness right outside your window. The Royal Kuhio building itself has this old-school Hawaii vibe that somehow escaped the endless renovation cycle, which I actually appreciate. Sure, the elevators are a bit slow (bring a book), but the trade-off is you’re not paying resort fees or fighting crowds in your own lobby. Plus, parking here doesn’t require a second mortgage, which… well, if you’ve tried to park anywhere else in Waikiki lately, you know what I’m talking about. The building’s quiet enough that you can actually sleep past sunrise if that’s your thing, though honestly, those city views might have you up early anyway just soaking it all in.
