Sugar Beach 502 condo Overview

First Impressions

When I first walked into Sugar Beach 502 condo, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from a three-star place — but this little gem in Kihei completely changed my mind. The condo sits right on North Kihei Road, and you know what struck me immediately? The view. I mean, you’re literally steps from Sugar Beach, which is probably one of the most underrated stretches of sand on Maui. The building itself is nothing fancy, but the location — well, that’s where the magic happens.

The Space

The room itself feels more like staying at a friend’s beach house than a typical hotel. It’s got this lived-in comfort that I actually prefer over those sterile resort suites. The kitchen is fully equipped (I made coffee every morning while watching the sunrise), and there’s enough space to spread out your beach gear without tripping over everything. What really sold me was the lanai — I spent most evenings out there with a drink, watching the West Maui Mountains turn purple at sunset. The furnishings are a bit dated, sure, but everything works and it’s spotlessly clean.

Location Magic

Here’s the thing about this spot that most people don’t realize until they’re here — you’re positioned perfectly between the action in Wailea and the local vibe of central Kihei. Sugar Beach stretches for miles in both directions, and honestly, I rarely saw more than a handful of people during my morning walks. The snorkeling right out front isn’t world-class, but it’s decent enough for a quick dip. Plus, you’ve got free parking right on site, which might not sound like a big deal until you’re trying to find a spot anywhere else in Kihei during peak season.

Getting Around

What I loved about staying here is how easy it was to explore the island. You’re about ten minutes from the Kihei boat ramp if you want to book a snorkel trip to Molokini, and the drive to Haleakala takes maybe forty-five minutes. I actually drove up there for sunrise one morning — totally worth the early wake-up call. For dinner, there’s a solid local restaurant scene within walking distance, though I’ll be honest, I ended up cooking most nights because the sunset views from the condo were too good to leave.

Why Guests Love It

The couples who stay here really get it — this place is all about slowing down and actually experiencing Maui rather than just checking off tourist boxes. Recent guests have been rating the location a perfect 10, and I can see why. You’re not dealing with resort crowds or paying resort prices, but you’re still getting that authentic Hawaiian beach experience. The condo works especially well if you’re planning to spend your days exploring different parts of the island and just want a comfortable, well-located home base. It’s not fancy, but it’s real — and sometimes that’s exactly what you need for a proper Maui getaway.

Hotels in Hawaii offer guests the perfect blend of tropical luxury and modern comfort, with many featuring surfing concierge services and traditional Hawaiian spa treatments to enhance the authentic island experience.

Location was great- we didn’t want to be in a busy fast paced area so it was perfect. It was quiet enough, bed and pillows comfortable. We liked having a key code instead of an actual key to bring everywhere. We never had any issues finding a parking spot either
