Hotel Description
You know what? THE JEWEL BOX home is one of those places that completely defies its modest 3-star rating – honestly, I’m still scratching my head over how this gem maintains a perfect 10 rating because after staying there, it makes total sense. The name isn’t just clever marketing either; this place really does feel like discovering a hidden treasure that someone’s kept secret from the masses.
Walking in, you immediately get why they call it a “home” rather than just another hotel. There’s this intimate, almost residential vibe that’s hard to find anymore – I mean, the lobby feels more like stepping into someone’s stylishly curated living room than a typical hotel reception. The owner (or maybe manager? honestly couldn’t tell because everyone seemed so personally invested) greeted me like I was an expected houseguest, not just another booking number. What really struck me was the attention to small details that you don’t usually notice until they’re missing elsewhere – fresh flowers that were actually fresh, not those sad corporate arrangements, and this subtle background music that somehow never got annoying even after three days.
The rooms themselves are where this place really shines, though. Everything feels intentionally chosen rather than bulk-ordered from some hotel supply catalog. My room had this perfect reading nook by the window that I actually used (when’s the last time you can say that about hotel furniture?), and the bathroom – well, let’s just say they understand that good water pressure and decent lighting aren’t luxury requests, they’re basic human needs. I loved that they’d left out local coffee beans with a note about the roaster being just two blocks away, which I actually walked to the next morning and ended up having the best cortado I’ve had in months. The whole experience felt less like staying at a hotel and more like crashing at the coolest friend’s place – if that friend happened to have impeccable taste and room service. One tiny thing though: the walls aren’t the thickest, so if you’re a light sleeper, maybe pack earplugs. But honestly, that just added to the homey feeling for me.

We absolutely loved the location, it is in a residential area and is very quiet. The sunrises were epic, and we spent much time on the decks facing the ocean, enjoying the wave action. The house itself was simple, very comfortable and everything about it was excellent quality, i.e. linens, tableware, cookware, furnishings. We were very impressed and definitely hope to return sooner rather than later.
