Hotel Description
Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect from The Westin Maui when I first pulled up – I mean, Ka’anapali Beach has so many resorts that they sort of blur together from the road. But this place actually surprised me in the best way. The moment you walk through the lobby, there’s this immediate sense that you’re somewhere special, with those soaring ceilings and the sound of waterfalls echoing from what feels like everywhere. And speaking of waterfalls – wow, they weren’t kidding around with the pool area. There are five pools connected by these rushing waterfalls and water slides that honestly made me feel like a kid again (though I definitely saw plenty of actual kids having the time of their lives). The whole aquatic playground winds through tropical landscaping that’s so lush you’d think you stumbled into a botanical garden. I spent way more time than I planned just wandering around taking it all in.
What really sets this place apart though – and this is something you don’t always get at the bigger resorts – is how it manages to feel both grand and approachable at the same time. The beach access is fantastic, with that perfect stretch of Ka’anapali sand right there, but here’s the thing locals know: if you walk about ten minutes south along the beach, you’ll hit some much quieter spots where you can actually hear yourself think. The staff genuinely seems to get this balance too; they’re professional without being stuffy, and I noticed they remember your name after like, the second interaction. Check-in was smooth (they have this mobile option that actually works, unlike some places), and parking is included which – trust me – is not a given in this area.
You know what really won me over though? It’s the little details that show someone’s actually thinking about the guest experience. The Heavenly Beds live up to the hype, and after spending days walking around Lahaina (it’s literally right there – you can walk to Front Street in about fifteen minutes) or driving the Road to Hana, sinking into those sheets felt incredible. The Spa Mokara is worth splurging on if you’re into that sort of thing, and the Relish Burger Bistro has this ahi poke burger that’s way better than it has any right to be. I’ll be honest, some of the restaurants lean pricey even by Maui standards, but you’re paying for quality and that view – especially at sunset when the whole sky lights up over Lanai. With an 8.7 rating, this place clearly knows what it’s doing, and after staying here, I totally get why people come back year after year. It’s that rare resort that manages to feel both luxurious and genuinely Hawaiian, without all the generic tropical hotel nonsense you get at some places.
To book a hotel in Hawaii during the famous winter whale watching season, visitors should make reservations well in advance as the islands attract tropical paradise seekers and ocean lovers from around the world.

Melissa from Australia (9/10)
Absolutely beautiful stay right on the beachfront. Multiple dining options onsite and a short walk to whalers village with plenty of shopping and eating options. The grounds are beautifully kept and the staff incredibly friendly and helpful. While the price is on the higher side we definently think it’s worth every cent and would love to come back.
