Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of Maui resorts, but The Westin Nanea Ocean Villas really gets the balance right between that polished resort feel and actually feeling like you’re in Hawaii. It’s tucked into Ka’anapali – not right on the main strip where all the tourists cluster around Whalers Village, but close enough that you can walk there when you want some shopping or different dining options.
What honestly impressed me most was how they handle the whole villa concept. I mean, you’re getting actual space here – real kitchens with decent appliances (not those tiny hotel fridges), separate living areas where you can spread out, and multiple bathrooms which, let’s be real, matters when you’re traveling with family or friends. The pools are genuinely nice too, especially that main one with the waterslide that keeps kids happy for hours. You know what though? The real winner is being right on Ka’anapali Beach. The sand’s that perfect golden color, and the water stays pretty calm most days – I actually saw more sea turtles here than at some of the supposedly “better” beaches further south.
The staff gets it right without being overly fussy about everything. Check-in was smooth, housekeeping doesn’t wake you up at 7 AM, and the concierge actually knows the area well enough to recommend spots beyond the usual tourist traps. Parking’s included which – trust me on this – saves you a fortune compared to some other Ka’anapali properties. Now, it’s not perfect (honestly, what resort is?). The restaurants on-site are fine but nothing spectacular, and you’ll probably want to venture out for dinner most nights. Traffic getting in and out can be brutal during peak season, especially late afternoon when everyone’s heading back from Lahaina. But here’s the thing – you’re paying significantly less than you would at the Grand Wailea or some of those Wailea properties, and you’re getting more space and a better beach experience. The 8.1 rating feels about right; it’s solidly good without trying to be something it’s not. If you want that authentic Maui vibe with resort amenities and don’t need everything to be absolutely pristine and über-luxurious, this place delivers.
Hawaii hotels range from charming beachfront bungalows in traditional Polynesian style to elegant oceanfront luxury resorts and modern accommodations with panoramic Pacific views.

Room great, a lot to do in property, staff were super friendly. There are great bbq stations in the property and we grilled our own dinner one evening which was very fun. The villa’s kitchen was fully equipped.

We loved the beach. There was a few days it was too rough but other than that we got to see fish and turtles! The pool was a little cloudy but it was a great temp and the staff was very nice.

Unit was beautiful with view of ocean. Unit was spacious. Balcony was huge. Liked the outdoor bbq’s and they were used often. This hotel is in a very busy part of the beach, so it feels a little crowded. We used the adult pool because it was less crowded and more peaceful.

Sara from Australia (2/10)
It was a hopeless faulty towers experience where staff were both incredibly unhelpful, unwilling to assist, didn’t know what they were doing etc. I really would not recommend this accomodation as value for money. You expect at this price range a luxury experience and it was anything but.

Clean and roomy.

I can’t think of a single negative thing. Everyone was exceedingly nice and cordial. Everything surpassed my expectations!
