The manta rays there are incredible, and you’ll want to book a night dive if you can swing it. Plus, you’re positioned perfectly for day trips up to Waimea or down to South Point – though honestly, South Point is a bit of a trek, so plan accordingly.

The rooms themselves are… well, they’re island casual. Don’t expect marble countertops or those fancy rainfall showers, but everything works and it’s comfortable enough. AC keeps things cool when you need it, and the beds are actually pretty decent (I’m picky about mattresses). What I appreciated was having a little kitchenette area – super handy for keeping some local fruit around or making coffee before you head out. The local Kona coffee, by the way, is something you should definitely try while you’re here, even if you’re not usually a coffee person.

Parking was never an issue, which might sound boring but trust me, it matters when you’re lugging beach gear around in the Hawaiian sun. The whole check-in process was smooth too – none of that resort nonsense where they try to sell you timeshares or activities you could book cheaper elsewhere. The staff seemed to actually live on the island, not just working a seasonal gig, so their recommendations felt genuine.

Look, this isn’t going to be the Instagram-perfect resort experience with infinity pools and spa treatments. But if you want a real taste of Kona life without completely breaking the bank, and you value being able to explore the area on your own terms, this place delivers. Just don’t expect miracles – it’s solid, honest accommodation that lets the Big Island do the heavy lifting when it comes to impressing you.

  The location of the hotel was perfect and directly in the heart of Kona City. A lot of restaurant 2-5 min walk. The garden was very nice. The resort offers a small but nice pool, a hottub and perfect working and clean gas BBQ grills for free use. The kitchen was well equipped and had a large fridge (wich had a few useful leftovers like souces and ketchup).
  The bathroom was ok but not special.
