VIVE Hotel Waikiki Overview
First Impressions
Walking into VIVE Hotel Waikiki, you immediately get the sense that this three-star property punches above its weight class. The lobby has this clean, modern vibe that feels fresh without trying too hard — honestly, it’s a nice surprise given how many dated hotels you’ll find along Kuhio Avenue. The staff actually seems to care about what they’re doing, which isn’t always a given in Waikiki where some places can feel pretty impersonal. You know what struck me most? The place feels like it was designed by people who actually understand what travelers want, not just what looks good in photos.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s the thing about the location — it’s basically perfect for exploring Waikiki without being right in the chaos of Kalakaua Avenue. You’re on Kuhio, which means you’re close enough to walk to the beach in about three minutes, but far enough from the main tourist strip that you can actually get some sleep at night. I mean, couples absolutely love this spot (they rate it 9.5, and honestly, I get why), because you can stroll to all the restaurants and bars, then retreat to somewhere that doesn’t feel like Times Square. The hotel sits in what locals consider the sweet spot of Waikiki — close to everything but not overwhelmed by it.
The Room Experience
The rooms are what I’d call smartly designed rather than spacious — this is Waikiki, after all, where every square foot costs a fortune. But they’ve made good use of the space with clean lines and thoughtful touches that actually work. The beds are comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the air conditioning works well, which is crucial when you’re dealing with Hawaiian humidity. What I really appreciated was that everything felt maintained — you know how some hotels have that slightly worn-around-the-edges feeling? Not here. The bathrooms are compact but functional, and honestly, you’re probably not spending much time in your room anyway when you’re this close to the beach.
Breakfast & Amenities
The continental breakfast setup is pretty solid — they do both continental and buffet options, which gives you some flexibility depending on your morning plans. It’s not going to blow your mind, but it’ll definitely fuel you up for a day of beach time or hiking Diamond Head. The fact that they have private parking is actually a huge deal in Waikiki — I can’t stress this enough. Trying to find parking in this area can be a nightmare and expensive as hell, so having that sorted takes a real weight off your shoulders. It’s one of those amenities that might not sound exciting but makes your entire stay smoother.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is how it balances being in the heart of everything while still feeling like a retreat. The location score of 9.6 isn’t just a number — it reflects how perfectly positioned you are to experience Waikiki without the usual headaches. You can walk to Waikiki Beach, grab dinner at Duke’s, hit up the International Market Place, then come back to somewhere that feels calm and well-run. For a three-star hotel, VIVE Hotel Waikiki delivers an experience that feels more upscale than its rating suggests, and that’s exactly what smart travelers are looking for in this expensive corner of paradise.

We chose Vive for our anniversary getaway, and it was absolutely wonderful! The location was perfect—just a short stroll to the beach, shopping, and an amazing poke spot just steps away. The staff were all so friendly and welcoming, and Cory went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. The amenities were top-notch, and the complimentary breakfast was such a sweet bonus. We loved being able to enjoy free tea and coffee anytime, and the beach gear available for guests was a thoughtful touch. Overall, we had an unforgettable stay at Vive, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone visiting Hawaii!

First of all, I would like to thank the whole valet parking team, they are very efficient, helpful, cheerful and most of all super friendly. Also the front desk, specially the lady who checked me in it’s a gem to this hotel. Breakfast is more than enough, cleanliness is in tiptop shape most of all the location of Vive hotel is the best. Keep it up and will definitely return to this hotel.

The breakfast was very impressive

Vive is located two blocks from Waikiki Beach and a block away from various restaurants (Marugame Udon is a few blocks away!) and shopping areas. We were upgraded to a king room and had a ton of space. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The front desk had items that I needed throughout my stay (band aids, toothbrush, and a phone charging cord). I also liked that they had beach gear rentals, which made it so much easier to enjoy the beach. There is an included breakfast, which was pretty similar each day, but I can't complain about free breakfast. The lobby also had water filters. Bring your reusable water bottles!

ARNEL, treats you like family, always friendly and with a big smile.
Federica from United Kingdom (8/10)
In the city center, good breakfast, beach towels, beach umbrella and other items (even sun cream!) to go to the beach given daily for free!
Very friendly staff
