Waikoloa Colony Villas 2106 Overview

You know what? When I first pulled up to Waikoloa Colony Villas 2106, I’ll be honest – it didn’t exactly scream “luxury resort.” But here’s the thing about this place that took me a couple days to really appreciate: it’s got this laid-back, residential vibe that actually makes way more sense once you settle in. The whole complex feels more like a neighborhood than a hotel, which I mean, can be either perfect or totally wrong depending on what you’re after.

The unit itself is pretty spacious – definitely feels like someone’s actual condo that they’re renting out rather than some cookie-cutter hotel room. The kitchen was surprisingly well-stocked (I actually cooked breakfast a few mornings, which saved me a ton since Big Island restaurant prices are, well, you know). The lanai overlooks the golf course, and honestly, those early morning views with the mist rolling off the fairways? Pretty magical. Though I should mention the walls aren’t exactly soundproof – you’ll hear your neighbors if they’re having a good time, but it wasn’t anything terrible. The AC works great, which matters more than you’d think when that afternoon Kona heat kicks in.

What really won me over was the location within Waikoloa. You’re about a five-minute drive to the Hilton and Marriott beaches, but without paying those resort prices or dealing with the crowds. There’s this little market at the Queens’ Shops that became my go-to for coffee and quick groceries – the local ladies working there actually remembered my order by day three, which felt pretty special. And honestly, being able to park right outside your door instead of hiking through some massive resort lobby with all your beach gear? That convenience hits different after a long day at Hapuna Beach. The pool area gets busy around 2 PM when families show up, but mornings are usually pretty quiet if you want to actually swim laps. I spent quite a few evenings just sitting by the water listening to the geckos chirp – it’s one of those sounds that makes you realize you’re actually in Hawaii, not just some generic tropical resort. Sure, it’s not going to win any design awards, and the furniture’s probably been there since 2010, but sometimes you just want a clean, comfortable base camp for exploring the island without breaking the bank.

We have never stayed at this set of condos before, even though we have spent a number of times in the Waikoloa area. The accommodations were very nice, and the pool was absolutely wonderful! The access to the BBQ grills was perfect and both the grills and the pool were located almost next door to the condo we stayed in.
